Love Is Blind may have a casting problem.

While season six has been one of the most entertaining iterations of the reality dating show, fans are beginning to doubt the process as multiple contestants face accusations of off-screen relationships during filming or, in one case, a prior engagement that ended just weeks before the the person was brought into the fold. This raises the question: is anyone here for the right reasons, or has Love Is Blind become just another platform for churning out Instagram influencers?

Here’s every cast member that has been accused of entering the pods while still attached to someone on the outside.

Jeramey Lutinski

The storyline: Jeramey is definitely one of the more controversial contestants, given his love triangle with Laura Dadisman and Sarah Anne. After committing to Lauren, he was caught red-handed meeting up with Sarah Anne at a bar — and staying out with her until 5 a.m. Though he told Lauren they just talked in the parking lot, his phone location (which he shared with Lauren on purpose) told a different story. Yikes.

The accusation: Oh, Jeramey. Considering his villain arc on the season, it didn’t shock people to learn that he had been engaged “a number of weeks” before filming the show. After the season began airing, his ex-fiancé, Brittani Mcliverty, and her mom, Jenni, posted on social media that the 32-year-old was still engaged and living with Mcliverty while “applying” to be on the dating show. Furthermore, Mcliverty claimed in a TikTok comment that they had sold their home “a week or two” before he left for the show. If that’s the case, it’s no wonder the home he showed Laura was so pristine. You can see screenshots of the social media posts here.

The response: Jeramy partially confirmed the accusations while refuting that he was still with Mcliverty when he applied for the show… because he claims he didn’t apply at all. In an Instagram video, Jeramy claimed a casting agent reached out to him about the show while he was already “out on my own for a number of weeks,” sharing a redacted version of the alleged DM in the second slide.

“Anybody that I was on dates with, my castmates, and in multiple interviews, this topic was discussed,” he said in the video. “Nobody is surprised by this. It was something that was well documented. Unfortunately with all of the footage that is captured, not all of it makes it into the final cut. This just happened to not make it in there.”

If that’s true, why would casting think a man fresh out of a serious relationship would be ready to marry a complete stranger? Just a question!

Trevor Sova

The storyline: Trevor was a fan favourite for his lovable, open demeanour in the pods. Many were heartbroken on his behalf when love interest Chelsea Blackwell got engaged to Jimmy Presnell instead of the 31-year-old fitness buff — especially knowing his dog Chelsea died of cancer while he was filming the show.

The accusation: On February 22, The Reality Ashley’s Instagram account shared screenshots of texts between Trevor and his alleged ex-girlfriend Natalia Marrero, which seemingly proved they were a couple during filming. “I love you so much honey,” read one alleged text sent by Trevor before entering the pods. “I’m excited for it but more exciting to get back to you after and start our life together.” Trevor also appears to claim he met another contestant on the plane who had no intention of getting married on the show.

Once he was out of the pods, he appeared to text Marrero about Chelsea, adding: “I hope you know how much I love you and had to pretend that this wasn’t real life to say anything I said.” You can see the post here.

The response: Though Trevor has yet to respond to the accusations, he’s been receiving a ton of backlash online. Unexpectedly, Chelsea has stepped in to call for kindness. “Y’all we have to understand… we are humans,” Chelsea wrote alongside a selfie with Trevor, per Entertainment Tonight. “We have all made mistakes. Our lives went incredibly public very fast. All we can do is have grace. It’s a very unfortunate situation. But I wouldn’t wish this amount of hate on anyone. Remember to be kind.”

Amber Grant

The storyline: We didn’t see much of Amber on the show. The 31-year-old left the pods after learning that Matthew Duliba was telling her all the same things as he was telling AD Smith (whose full name happens to be Amber Desiree). “I think it’s time to bow out,” Amber said after an emotional conversation with AD.

When AD broke things off with Matthew, he could be heard saying, “I’m gonna go get Amber.”

The accusation: As fans looked for updates on Matthew and Amber, TikTok user @storytimewithrikki shared an anonymous email claiming Amber had a “serious boyfriend” during filming. In fact, the email claims she is still with her partner and had a plan to leave before proposals.

TikTok content

“It seems like the criteria for going on this season was you have to already be involved in a serious relationship,” The TikTok creator said in the video.

The response: Though Grant had been posting about the show, she has not responded to the recent dating rumours. In her Instagram and TikTok comments sections, multiple users have asked about her alleged boyfriend and accused the contestant of “clout chasing.”
