From sexy, sheer dresses to bewitching beading, London Fashion Week has served some seriously good looks on the catwalk – but we'd be remiss to not give the shoes their own moment.
This season, there's been plenty to write home (or to you) about. The ‘wrong shoe’ trend still very much applied to the styling on the runway, as designers paired elegant evening-wear with daytime loafers at Erdem – or furry FitFlops at Roksanda. The “comfort shoe” also continued to dominate, with Ancuta Sarca collaborating with Crocs and Clarks for some unexpected (but highly-adored) moments.
Elsewhere, of course, there were some pretty stilettos for the loyal heel wearers, with 16 Arlington sending models down the runway with feathery sandals fluttering as they strutted.
Below, check out our five favourite shoes from the London Fashion Week spring/summer 2025 runway.
1. ERDEM
Erdem's SS25 show, inspired by openly-gay author Radclyffe Hall her 1928 novel The Well of Loneliness about a woman living as a man, featured a play on masculine and feminine silhouettes.
Models wearing beautifully-embroidered suits created in collaboration with Savile Row tailors and heavily embellished dresses floated down the steps of the British Museum paired with tasselled loafers and brogues, a playful twist on the classic gentleman's shoe.
2. ROKSANDA x FITFLOP
Set in front of panoramic views of Space House, the Roksanda show featured plenty of billowing gowns and tinsel-tinged dresses in every colour of the rainbow. But, instead of dainty pumps, the collection was styled with beautiful yet functional shaggy shearling sandals from the brand's latest collaboration with ergonomic footwear brand FitFlop.
“The fusion of form and function holds an enduring fascination for me," the Roksanda says in her show notes. "With their deep understanding of footwear science, FitFlop has been the perfect partner with whom to explore the creative limits of this intersection, bringing to life a stunning collection that effortlessly harmonises with the ready-to-wear.”
3. 16ARLINGTON
Remember the fuzzy footwear trend for autumn/winter 2024? Well, that's about to give way to the feathered heel, if 16Arlington has any say in it. To go with Marco Capaldo's incredibly sexy show (deep-V dresses, sheer tees, python knickers — you name it) there had to be equally sexy shoes to match, which came in the form of vertigo-inducing stilettos with a crown of feathers around the toes and ankles.
We're partial to the Starburst-coloured heels inspired by the mood of Pedro Almodovar's 2011 psychological thriller The Skin I Live In.
4. ACUNTA SARCA x CROCS & CLARKS
Platform slides? Kitten heels? Leopard boots? Ancuta Sarca has it all. Putting a spin on “2020s corporate minimalism” the designer reimagines familiar silhouettes with the help of two comfort shoe giants.
With Clarks, Ancuța Sarca puts an unexpected twist on the iconic Clarks Originals Wallabees, by repurposing deadstock shoes, and for Crocs she deconstructs the classic style to create platformed hybrids, literally and sartorially elevating the shoe to new fashion heights. Oh and for anyone looking to dabble in leopard print trend this season, the boots and sporty kitten heels from the collection are the way to go.
5. JW ANDERSON
Looking for a rain boot that doesn't make you look like you're about to trudge through mud in the English countryside? Well, JW Anderson has some serious weather-proof versions that are as functional as they are cool. A play on their chunky boots from last season, these new iterations feature an exaggerated opening and 90s side zips that make running out the door on a wet winter morning that much easier.
