Spoilers ahead
Liar was the one thing making Mondays that little bit more satisfying since it started on ITV six weeks ago. But with last night's season finale, we're left feeling a bit empty. The good news is, there's DEFS going to be a series two. YAY.
The drama, centred on the rape of Laura Nielson and sexual predator Andrew Earlham, will be returning for a second series.
Last night the series reached its nail-biting climax as the final scene showed Andrew Earlham's murdered body. Aside from wondering who did it, we wondered if we'll ever find out so news of series two is very welcome news.
ITV tell us that Joanne Froggatt and Ioan Gruffudd will both return for the new series.
YA WHAT? Is Andrew not actually dead? That slit in his throat looked pretty substantial. Flashbacks maybe? IS THERE MORE WE DON'T KNOW?!
Polly Hill, commissioner of the new series, said: “Liar has gripped the nation over the last six weeks and we’re delighted both Joanne and Ioan will return to play Laura and Andrew. Jack and Harry Williams are incredible storytellers and part two of Liar will have the audience equally gripped, as we find out who killed Andrew Earlham.”
Show star Joanne Froggatt hinted at series two in our podcast earlier this year, saying: "Liar definitely comes to a satisfying conclusion in these six episodes. There is an offshoot from this story that if they wanted to do one more six part series they could. But it wouldn't be more than that."
We can't wait.
