No one does a red carpet like Kristen Stewart. Forever fashion's favourite rule-breaker, she's one of the most unpredictable attendees during awards season - which is exactly why we love her.
Attending the 2022 Oscars this weekend, the Spencer star - whose performance is nominated for Best Actress - shunned the idea of a traditionally floor-skimming black tie gown worn by her colleagues and contemporaries, and instead arrived on the red carpet wearing a custom Chanel black satin shorts suit. Short shorts, in fact.
“We loved how elegantly it lays and commands attention on its own,” said Kristen’s longtime stylist Tara Swennen, according to Vogue, “as well as her own personal rings for luck!”
“Her style is ever changing and yet simultaneously uniquely her own. She has an ease and confidence to everything she wears that is captivating and magnetising.”
And while the short shorts were undoubtedly a divisive move - with many traditionalists preferring frothy layers of tulle to lashings of leg - fashion editors and critics alike welcomed the risk-taker's new take on red carpet dressing.
‘No mermaid dresses! No princess frocks! It’s about time.", declared Vanessa Friedman, Fashion Director at the New York Times.

But it wasn't just her minuscule shorts that got people talking.
After walking the red carpet in a pair of pointed black pumps, Kristen quickly kicked off the sky-high heels and swapped into a pair of flat black loafers - a moment that we can undoubtedly all relate to.
If that iconic move, alone, doesn't win Kristen Stewart an Oscar then there's absolutely no justice.
