It's official — it's cold, it's dark, it's grey, and cosy season is well underway. For the foreseeable future, you can find us hibernating under a blanket, cup of something warm in one hand and the TV remote in the other. If you're curious about the best TV autumn has to offer, add Sophie Turner's upcoming ITV series Joan to your list immediately.
The bonkers true story of the glamorous criminal Joan Hannington takes us on a journey. The Game of Thrones actor is plays the real-life jewel thief, who rose through the ranks of the criminal underbelly of London in the 1980s.
The six-episode season has already dropped on ITV and, yes, we are already completely obsessed. As we all prepare for an autumnal return to this year's mob wife aesthetic, here's everything we know about the series.
The Adam Brody and Kristen Bell rom-com series is a delightful binge, but veers into territory that's a bit too frustrating and predictable.

What is Joan about?
Joan takes inspiration from the story of real-life jewel thief Joan Hannington, who became a formidable jewel thief in 1980s London.
The IMDB synopsis for the TV series reads as follows: “A woman who goes between her thriving and daring career as a jewel thief, all whilst trying to get her daughter back from social services, we see a mother in despair swept up in the exhilarating world of crime.”
According to ITV, Sophie's version of Joan is "a fiery and uncompromising woman in her twenties who is deeply scarred and vulnerable. She is a devoted mother to her six-year-old daughter, Kelly, but is trapped in a disastrous marriage with a violent criminal named Gary.”
Is there a Joan trailer?
There sure is! And if the trailer is anything to go by, this series is going to be a stylish treat.
What has Sophie Turner said about starring in Joan?
Sophie was filming Joan when her split with Joe Jonas went public, and opened up in an interview with British Vogue about “processing feelings” from the break up while playing the role.
“I'm not very good at processing my emotions,” she said. "I lock them away and then they'll bubble up in years to come in some form of depression or anxiety. With this role, I was actually able to process those feelings."
She added that the Joan cast and crew were a huge support to her during this time, as the media dissected the split and mum-shamed her. "They were my emotional support people, my family," she said. “I really don't know what I would have done without them.”
The drama is set in Lancashire, but where was it actually filmed?

Who stars in Joan?
Joining Sophie on screen are Frank Dillane, who plays a London antique dealer, Kirsty J. Curtis as Jean's sister, Gershwyn Eustache Jr, Laura Aikman (The Split, Gavin & Stacey), Nick Blood, Alex Blake (The Crown), Caroline Faber, Mia Millichamp-Long and Dorothy Atkinson.
Joan release date
All sixe episodes of Joan have already dropped on ITV on September 29.
