Jennifer Aniston is co-signing the death of the nude nail with her new ‘brouge’ manicure

We normally have our sights firmly set on Jennifer Aniston's hair. Put simply, if she's sporting a side-parted flicked-out bob, a fluffy lob or The Rachel 2.0, it's usually a barometer for what will be the biggest hair trend next season. But this time it's the star's manicure that's setting our pulses racing.

This summer has officially been about the nude nail. BB cream nails, rose water nails, sparkling rosé nails and the milky manicure have all exploded on social media in recent months. Even Jen typically sports a milky French on a long oval nail. But in the same way that her bob left us shook after years of beachy waves, Jennifer Aniston's fresh take on a red manicure has left us reconsidering our current aversion to swipes of colour on our nails.

On 3 August, The Morning Show actor posted a Reel where she can be seen rummaging through her brown suede handbag for the new Lolavie Dry Shampoo that has just dropped in the US.

At first, your eyes are drawn to exactly what Jennifer Aniston carries in her handbag (turns out, it's surprisingly normal: phone, receipts, a little pouch, a bottle of Smartwater, makeup remover wipes and a few small pieces of either skincare or makeup rolling around at the bottom).

Jen's dirty blonde hair falls in gentle layers around her face during the video. She can also be seen wearing a simple grey tank top and blue jeans, but offsetting the relaxed feel of her outfit is a set of glossy red nails as she holds the Lolavie bottle up to the camera.

Recently, celebrity fans like Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber have all revisited the shade. But rather than lean into a typical orangey red polish to boost a tan, Jen has given us a tantalising taste of the perfect transeasonal red nail colour we'll be wearing from summer into autumn: a deep red with just a hint of brown.

It's not quite as dark as a burgundy nail but also not as bright as a poppy red - it elusively sits somewhere in between. Shall we call it ‘brouge’?

Jennifer Aniston has also sidestepped a vampy red manicure by choosing to switch out longer tips for a short squoval shape. In doing so, she has debuted a chic classic that looks just as good against denim as it would on the red carpet.

It's a trend that Michelle Humphrey, whose A-list clients include Sabrina Carpenter and Dua Lipa, predicted would be a key shape this year. “Clients are opting for natural nail lengths and shapes, and long nails seem to be on the back burner,” she explained when GLAMOUR tapped her up for the 2025 nail trends to know.
