We all love a good, cosy detective drama, right? And it looks like ITV's Unforgotten series 6 will not disappoint.
The show, which started back in 2015, has all the hallmarks of the genre — a grisly murder, an odd couple detective team with complicated personal lives and, of course, plenty of twists.
The show is now back for its sixth season, which sees DI Sunny Khan (Sanjeev Bhaskar) pairing up with DCI Jessica James (Sinead Keenan) following the shocking death of DCI Cassie Stuart (Nicola Walker).
The cast may look a little different, but the pair are still doing what they do best — solving cold cases.
Here's everything we know about Unforgotten series 6.
What is Unforgotten series 6 about?
Series 6 of Unforgotten will follow the same basic format as the previous seasons — detectives are called in to solve a cold case, and, after a few twists, turns and personal drama, they do.
This season, however, things may feel a little different as Sunny and Jessica navigate their new partnership. “I mean, for me, it’s a continuation of their relationship that started in season 5,” said Bhaskar to Radio Times. “For me, by the end of season 5, they have that one scene where they kind of open up to each other. That was a really vital moment in their relationship.”
Who stars in Unforgotten series 6?
In addition to Bhaskar and Keenan who lead the show, Unforgotten series will feature some familiar and some faces.
MyAnna Buring joins the cast as Melinda Ricci, the correspondent from the GB News-style Britannia News. As Buring told the Mirror, playing the far-right reporter wasn't exactly easy. "When I first read [my lines], I literally threw up in my mouth, so I think it's fair to say that I hold very different views to Mel or the ones that she presents," she said.
Emmett Scanlan plays Patrick, Melinda's fiancé, who has recently been paralysed in an accident. You may recognise him from Peaky Blinders and Kin.
Maximilian Fairley joins the cast as Martin “Marty” Baines, a young man who cares for his elderly mother, Dot, played by Michele Dotrice.
Elham Ehsas also joins as Asif Syed, an Afghan who has moved to Devon and is training for his citizenship test. You may recognise Ehsas from Homeland, Young Wallander, Shantaram and The Agency. Ahmad Sakhi plays Hassan, another Afghan refugee.
Cobra's Victoria Hamilton also joins the cast as Juliet Cooper, a history lecturer and faculty head who finds herself in trouble after a student makes a complaint about her. Her troubled teenage daughter, Taylor Cooper, is played by Pixie Davies (Mary Poppins Returns).
Damien Molony (Suspects, Crashing) has also been confirmed.
When is Unforgotten series 6 coming out?
Good news — the series has already premiered on ITV. All six episodes of the season are currently available on streaming, and they will also air on Sundays and Mondays at 9pm on ITV1.
