It's fair to say that H&M has got viral collection drops down to a tee: from their Innovation Re-Enchantment Design Story to the sell-out and most recent H&M Studio S/S 2023, the Scandinavian stalwart has cemented itself as a leader of the high street pack. And the latest H&M Spring 2023 collection drop only further cements our case.
It's the second launch of two Spring collection drops this season. The first half of the pre-spring line-up dropped on March 9, but a second flurry of already influencer-adored styles have landed online today (that's March 30, FYI). And you're going to want to bookmark everything.
“We see identity as a spectrum of possibilities,” says concept designer Eliana Masgalos on the H&M Spring 2023 collection. “We want this collection to encourage our customers to travel through different aesthetics and hope they're as inspirited by the elevated and eclectic pieces as we are,” Eliana says. Inspired by a mythical island - Isla Hennes - each piece evokes experimentation through a thrilling variety of soft tones, bold shapes and tactile textures – and it'll seriously make you second guess your existing holiday wardrobe.
Continuing to explore the idea of style transformation for the new season, especially after the success of the H&M Studio S/S 2023 collection, the brand's pre-spring drop presents colourful; mood-boosting designs each crafted from elevated fabrics and with an approachable price point.
Vivid colour palettes and floral appliqués are influenced by the imaginary island's azure waters and botanical meadows, preempting the tropical getaway-ready desires we're already experiencing ahead of the warmer months, while tailored separates answer to the minimalist woman's needs.
Which part of the H&M Spring 2023 collection should you direct your attention at first? The neo-folk elements that spotlight embroidery, then the designs that feature a remix of stripes and patterns for some added frivolity. This spring/summer is all about inducing a sense of being on vacation (even if you're very much not).
The flower power trend – “groundbreaking”, even by Miranda Priestly's standards – was showcased at Loewe, Richard Quinn, Dior and Roksanda this season and makes an appearance in H&M's latest launch. More theatrical than your usual spring floral, embroidered cotton corset tops, summer dresses and skirts see the classic trend take on much more of a three-dimensional role, ideal for those unafraid of a stand-out fashion moment.
Elsewhere, the reign of Barbiecore fashion continues, with Victoria Beckham, Acne Studios and Zimmermann-approved candyfloss pink – and Balenciaga fuscia – enabling you to splash the hue across your 'fit from head to toe.
The pre-spring collection is available to shop in store and online from today, and you can shop our favourite pieces right here.
