Excuse me? Yes, it really has been 25 years since Gilmore Girls premiered, and to honour this milestone, Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel came together at the Emmys 2025.
They also presented the award for Best Comedy Screenplay, but we also learned some background details. How true or not they are, we can all decide for ourselves.
Starring The Walking Dead's Andrew Lincoln and Indira Varma.

The last time we saw Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel together as Lorelai and Rory was in the revival series Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, which gave us little updates on what our series favourites have been up to over the past 20 years.
And at the 2025 Emmys, the Gilmore Girls reunited on the red carpet before hitting the big stage.
As presenters for the Best Screenplay for a Comedy Series award, they took to the stage to Carole King's Where You Lead, the beloved theme song from Gilmore Girls and stood on stage in front of a pretty good replica of the famous porch of the iconic house from the show.
"Twenty-five years ago, a show called Gilmore Girls premiered and obviously took over the season of fall," Graham said, alluding to the fact that fans of the show often rewatch it every year starting in September. Bledel added, "Despite our fall dominance, Gilmore was actually a very small show."
Nowadays, the series may be cult, but back then, the budget was rather small. "That is, we had no money," Graham explained. "When there was a birthday at The Drew Carey Show next door, they would send us their leftover sheet cakes," Bledel agreed. "We looked hungry."
If you take a closer look at the first season, you can also see signs that the budget for the pilot episode was rather limited.
Although the series looked like New England, it was shot at Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank. Graham said, "We walked around in circles in Burbank and said, 'Hey, look how much it's like Connecticut here today!" They also barely had a budget for the different seasons, as Bledel explained: “We saved up all year to shoot a snow episode.” The hospital series ER was filmed on the same site. They had a bit more budget, though.
"Basically, we were bullied and hungry all the time," said Bledel. “The only thing we had were scripts. Good scripts. Great scripts. Frighteningly long scripts.”
"Without scripts, we wouldn't have wonderful words to say," Graham added. "We wouldn't know if it's day or night," Bledel said, before Graham finished with, "Whether we're inside or outside."
Then the nominees for Best Screenplay for a Comedy Series were introduced, and the award, of course, went to The Studio.
The next Gilmore Girls reunion has also already been confirmed – the documentary Searching for Stars Hollow. However, Lauren Graham will not be seen. On the red carpet at the 2025 Emmys, she explained that she does not take part in any projects that were not created by the series creators themselves. In the documentary, however, we can look forward to interviews with Kelly Bishop, Jared Padalecki, Keiko Agena and Chad Michael Murray.
