The Game of Thrones theme tune is one of the most memorable on our telly screens, and it took about six months to get that particular earworm out of our heads each season.
And with season 7 due to start in July (judging by those first season 7 pictures, it's going to be great) we thought we'd take a look at some of the poor souls who also got the earworm, but managed to turn it into something a bit more creative than simply running around the office screaming "PLEASE MAKE IT STOP." Like some amazing Game of Thrones hairstyles, for example.
1. The super-clever classical violin
YouTube loves nothing more than a video where someone sings/plays all the parts, and Jason Yang's spirited cover of the Game of Thrones theme is absolutely beautiful.
2. The 8-bit chiptune cover
What's chiptune? The minute you'll listen you'll get it; it's music done in the style of the old 8-bit games from the 80s. This is super-cute, and we would 100% throw Mario and Luigi into the fray.
3. The one with loads of cellos
This folk-rock-cello (bear with me) cover version by by the alt-classical US chamber group (bear with me) Break of Reality is one of the most popular Game of Thrones theme tune covers on YouTube.
4. The Western
Take every spaghetti western you ever watched on Channel 4 as a child, add liberal amounts of Johnny Cash and some quite convincing threads, and you have Game of Thrones with cowboys.
5. BAGPIPES!
The guitarist/bagpipe duo who play this make the very valid point that the bagpipes are a medieval instrument and are therefore the perfect fit for Thrones. The fact there is a dragon skull attached to the front is an added bonus in what is a pretty unique take on the Game of Thrones theme tune.
6. The Queen's guards playing it outside Buckingham Palace
No words. This is too amazing. Especially when the brass kicks in, and the sight of the bearskins on parade in the background.
7. The metal version
There have been a ton of rock adaptations of this (Kerrang! favourites Enter Shikari did a good one on Radio 1 a while back), but the sheer balls-out metal of this one is a joy. If This is Spinal Tap was made now, you just KNOW that Thrones would be their Stone'enge.
8. Goats
I mean, sure.
9. The one sung by a thoughtful Siamese cat
There is something incredibly charming about this one, even while you sit there quietly terrified.
