There is a LOT of love for the Father of the Bride films in the GLAMOUR office – the films where Steve Martin played a dad who turned out to be reluctant to let his daughter go (but not in a creepy way) – so we were thrilled to hear that a script for a third film exists!
George Newbern, who played the completely delicious groom Bryan McKenzie in the two films and who now stars in Scandal, told US Weekly that most of the cast would be keen to join a sequel.
“[Director] Charles Shyer wrote a script. I know there’s a script out there. And there’s talk. I don’t know how far it got but I’m sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right. So maybe that’s just a question of that happening.”
YES PLEASE!
Newbern also gave his thoughts on where he saw Bryan and the family, and said they "need to do a third one".
“I think Bryan MacKenzie would probably be a grandfather now. They had a kid so he’s probably got a grandkid at this point, I think. Or at least close to it. Or his daughter would be getting married. He’s probably invested in a startup in the Silicon Valley because they are on the West Coast. And they probably live up in the Bay area. They got four kids. They need to shoot a third one. We need to do a third one. That would be great.”
Father of the Bride's amazing cast also included Diane Keaton as Nina Banks and Kieran Culkin as son Matty. Kimberly Williams-Paisley as bride Annie Banks, Martin Short as wedding planner Franck Eggelhoffer, and of course, Steve Martin as dad George.
