The 74th Primetime Emmy Awards are being held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles tonight (12 September), where many previous winners are going head-to-head for the first time, causing predictions to be difficult to navigate. As always, we're expecting a succession of show-stopping red carpet looks from the likes of Zendaya, Lily James, Jung Ho-yeon, Sydney Sweeny, Elle Fanning and countless other leading ladies.

Last year, Bridgerton came out swinging, and Ted Lasso swept its categories. Will crowd-pleasers collect once again? Several reliable standbys – including Succession, Better Call Saul, and Ozark are always sure to take home at least a few major wins. But professional TV-watchers also have their eyes on some popular newbies, including Squid Game, Pachinko, Yellowjackets, and Severance

We also know that every year there are some wildcards (Emily In Paris, anyone?) as well as one or two notable snubs. Will fan-favourite underdog Abbot Elementary pull out some surprise upsets? Will Stranger Things be shockingly shut-out? Fans of This Is Us are still smarting from the wildly popular show's final season being snubbed in all categories bar Original Music and Lyrics. Meanwhile, Melanie Lynskey, Zendaya, and Jean Smart's formidable respective hives are ready to go to bat for their queens.

So whether your team Squid Game, Stranger Things or Succession, are rooting for Julia Garner or Jodie Comer or even J. Smith Cameron (Ozark, Killing Eve and Succession, respectively) – or even if you're still devastated by the utterly brilliant This is Us final season being snubbed – we've got all the news, all the frocks and all the drama from Hollywood. Here is the full list of tonight's winners from the glittering ceremony….

There is no TV show with a cult following quite like Succession. So why are millions of us so hooked?

There’s something for everyone: Shiv and Stewy are objectively incredibly hot and terrible people; deeply uncool Number One Boy, Kendall, is a pity-magnet; Roman is a mischievous, sexually-repressed nightmare; Gerri is a “stone-cold, killer bitch”; and Greg...well, Greg is tall.
