Emma Roberts is one of those effortless dressers who bring together personal style and seasonal trends without looking like she's trying too hard. This summer, she's here to give us a style lesson in the power of a casual red trainers.
Red shoes have been ubiquitous on the spring-summer 2026 runways for good reason. As Glamour recently noted, they have “a rare talent for transforming an outfit's overall mood.” With a splash of scarlet, maroon or cherry, an otherwise simple jeans-and-nice-top look suddenly looks fresh. Similarly, they can liven up sharp tailoring, or add a bold pop to an easy summer dress. This summer, this trick has never worked better.
Emma Roberts showed off her take on the statement shoe this past week, on the streets of New York for a shoot with Adidas and Nordstrom. Based on the photos, she picked the Gazelle model in an intense tomato red. This vintage-inspired silhouette of the trainer has been enjoying a comeback for several seasons now and was long considered the successor to the popular Sambas. The suede upper and natural rubber outsole contribute to its distinctive retro look.
Emma Roberts carries this aesthetic over into the rest of her outfit: wide-legged, baggy suit trousers (ideal for warmer temperatures, as they allow plenty of air to circulate around the legs) and a fitted dark blue sports top featuring the iconic Trefoil logo and the brand’s three stripes in white and red.
The stripes on the top cleverly echo the color of the sneakers, while the neutral tones of the trousers provide a sense of calm. It’s a relaxed yet stylish look that feels perfectly harmonious. The outfit is completed with a pair of currently trendy oversized aviator sunglasses.
