Earlier this month Ed Sheeran returned to the spotlight after a one-year hiatus, and gave us what we’ve all been waiting for – not one, but two brand new singles.

‘Shape of You’ and ‘Castle on the Hill’ made history after their release on January 6, breaking Spotify’s 'day one' UK and global steaming record, reaching over 13 million streams combined in the first 24 hours. The title was previously held by One Direction with their 2015 track ‘Drag Me Down’, which reached 4,759,698 streams.

The 25-year-old, who wrote Justin Bieber’s hit ‘Love Yourself’ as well as several songs for the 1D boys, admits that ‘Shape of You’ was originally written with Rihanna in mind before he decided to keep it for himself.

And it looks like there’s plenty more where that came from, as he posted what appears to be a track listing for his new album ÷ on Instagram yesterday.

For anyone eagerly anticipating the new album (er, all of us) your Ed Sheeran fix could be on its way sooner than you think, as it’s been confirmed he’ll be taking part in James Cordon’s Carpool Karaoke some time this year.
