If there's one thing we love more than a hair tool that makes our AM routine easier, it's a hefty saving on said styler. Yep, the Dyson Airwrap now has £100 (!) off, making it one of the best Amazon Prime Day beauty deals to shop within the next 48 hours.

For context, I'm a beauty journalist who's spent the last half a decade road-testing the latest innovations in hot air brushes, hair straighteners and curling irons to locate the very best. But, on seeing the launch of the Dyson Airwrap i.D. Multi-Styler last year, I had questions too: What's the difference? Is this the lowest price you'll see all year? And, erm, is the Dyson Airwrap actually worth investing in?

FYI, the original Dyson Airwrap was launched back in 2018, and since then, the award-winning styling device has remained one of the most coveted of its kind. One scroll through the #DysonAirwrap hashtag on TikTok will reveal over 182,000 videos – from in-depth tutorials on bouncy ‘dos and silky straight hair to game-changing tips on how to get your style to last.

Though I've tested my fair share of hair tools, I always find my way back to my Airwrap – and have done for the past four years. From curling to drying and smoothing out flyaways, it's your one-stop shop for salon-worthy results from the comfort of your home. Ahead, a BS-free, deep-dive and honest review of the latest iteration, fitted with cutting-edge AI technology, based on my four years' worth of testing.

Dyson Airwrap i.d.™ Multi-Styler and Dryer

Meet the reviewer: Denise Primbet, GLAMOUR's Beauty Contributor

As someone who has thick hair, I'm used to having low expectations when it comes to hair tools. The story is always the same: the hair looks great immediately after styling, however it almost never lasts. The only way to make sure that my style stays in place for longer is to: a) drown my hair in hairspray or b) use an obscene amount of heat – neither of which is really an option, considering just how damaged my hair already is from all the previous dyeing and bleaching. I made the decision to purchase the Dyson Airwrap exactly four years ago, and I've never looked back.

  • Hair type: thick.
  • Hair length: long.
  • Hair concern: damaged hair from dyeing and bleaching.
  • Testing period: 4 years.

Dyson Airwrap i.D. Multi-Styler: Product deep-dive and review

When Dyson first launched the Airwrap Multi-Styler, it turned the beauty world on its perfectly blow-dried head. The revolutionary device ditched traditional hairdryer technology in order to break the boundaries of hair tool engineering. The result? A model that cleverly manipulates air flow that effortlessly styles while eliminating the need for high heat, therefore reducing hair damage.

For the uninitiated, the launch of the Dyson Airwrap was the culmination of six years of product development, £24 million in research, 103 granted patents and 170 pending patents. And in 2025, a new iteration has been released: Dyson Airwrap i.D.

Packaged inside a sleek leather presentation case, the Airwrap i.D is equipped with ‘Coanda effect’ technology, where a high-speed jet of air flows across a surface and due to differences in pressures, the air flow follows that surface. Think of it a bit like when you put a spoon under the tap – the water cascades off the spoon in the same shape. Well, it's like that – but with air. The Airwrap uses the Coanda effect to whip sections of hair around its barrel, which in turn sets it in a perfect curl or beachy waves, depending on how you style it.

It's equipped with various attachments – including a Coanda dryer (designed to rough dry the roots and smooth flyways), barrels (one 40mm barrel for looser waves and another 30mm barrel for tighter curls – both designed to switch between clockwise and anti-clockwise direction with a simple twist at the top), a diffuser attachment, a firm smoothing brush and a large round volumising brush. You can also opt to purchase additional attachments, and each tool comes with a detangling comb and a filter cleaning brush.

Colour-wise, it's available in three iterations (the topaz variant being my favourite) – and when shopping for your hair type, you can choose between the straight and wavy Airwrap or or coily and curly Airwrap. The latter comes with a diffuser.

Weighing just over 0.5kg, the tool features three heat settings (including the cool shot mode) and three speed settings – each controlled by the two handy switches positioned at the top of the device.

Dyson Airwrap: The Verdict

One of my favourite things about the Airwrap is just how speedy it is for day-to-day styling. Right after initially towel-drying my hair post-shower, I tend to reach for the Coanda dryer attachment to focus on drying my roots and rough-drying the rest of my hair to the point when it's still damp but 70% dry. If I'm in a rush, I simply grab the firm smoothing brush and gently comb my hair through the lengths for that silky smooth straight result. And if I'm after a bit more volume, I would use the round volumising brush to “zhuzh”-up my fringe and upper layers for that effortless look. This whole process usually takes me no longer than 5-8 minutes in total, which is perfect for those busy morning routines.

For the days when I have a bit more time, I love using the Airwrap to create my favourite bouncy curls using the iconic barrels – as that is, to me, where the Coanda effect comes into its own. After sectioning my hair, I opt for the tighter 30mm barrel for the longer layers (since those would be the first curls to drop) while alternating between directions. As for the shorter layers and my fringe, I usually go for the 40mm barrel and strategically style the curls away from my face. Through trial and error, I've learnt that the best way to get your curls to last is to avoid dry styling and instead focus on using the barrels on slightly damp hair. I also highly recommend trying out the Dyson Chitosan Pre-style cream, which helped me achieve a better hold and smoother results. Top tip: never skip the cooling shot to set your curls in place and try to pin them up while they're cooling down.

One of the reasons why the Airwrap is my go-to tool for styling curls has to do with the fact that it does all the hard work for me and makes easy work of wrapping my hair around the barrel. You see, with traditional curling tongs, I would finish the styling session while practically covered in sweat due to the uncomfortable amount of manoeuvring that would usually require both hands. This, dear reader, is far from the case with the Airwrap. And because it used air and not scorching heat, I'm left with curls that are bouncy and shiny and healthy-looking.

Dyson Airwrap FAQs:

What's the difference between Dyson Airwrap and Dyson Airwrap i.D.?

The original Dyson Airwrap is no longer on sale – instead, if you want to buy a Dyson Airwrap, it's the Dyson Airwrap i.D. you'll be shopping for. TBH, there isn't a tonne of difference between the two models, it's just that the latter offers a more personalised styling experience than its predecessor.

The i.D. boasts Bluetooth connectivity and app integration, meaning users can connect their hair tool to the MyDyson app and program their tool to follow specific styling routines based on their hair type, length, and desired style. Cool, huh?

Outside of this, the i.d. includes the new Conical Airwrap barrel with tapered tip. This style is closer to the root than previous attachments, for tighter, longer-lasting curls.

Are there any disadvantages to the Dyson Airwrap?

Besides the obvious of it being very expensive, as is the case with any high-tech device, the Dyson Airwrap takes a bit of getting used to.

Although I found the controls pretty intuitive, it did take me a few days to learn the ins and outs and figure out the best way to style my hair. So, my advice is to be patient and take your time to get to know this tool. Trust me when I tell you that once you do get the hang of it, it will cut down the styling time by half.

Is the Dyson Airwrap worth purchasing?

As someone who regularly reviews hundreds of beauty products (a good bulk of them being hair tools), I wouldn't say that I'm easily swayed. Yet, the results speak for themself; ever since I first got my hands on the Dyson Airwrap in 2020, I haven't been able to put it down. I'd even go as far as to declare that it's become my favourite tool of all time.

Not only is it speedy and packs a punch with its innovative features, but the biggest highlight for me is that my hair no longer suffers from any of the extreme high heat. In fact, over long-term use, I've noticed a big improvement in terms of the quality of my hair. Courtesy of my carefully curated haircare routine and regular use of the Airwrap, it's now smoother, shinier and more healthier-looking than it's ever been. And while it's far from affordable, considering that mine has served me well over a few years, I'd say that it was definitely worth the splurge.

Dyson Airwrap styling tips, according to a celebrity hair stylist

What is the best way to style hair using the Dyson Airwrap?

I've quizzed celebrity hair stylist and Dyson global ambassador Larry King to get pro tips on how to use the Dyson Airwrap:

  • For layered hair: “I think the best way to style layered hair with the Airwrap is to mix it up with the barrels,” he shares. “This technique will give you different curl patterns and enhance the look of your layers. For example, you could use the 30mm barrel for the top section of your hair to give it a tighter curl, and then switch to the 40mm for the hair underneath. ”
  • For curly and afro hair: “For me, the best way to style textured hair is to take the Dyson Airwrap and the smoothing attachment and brush through the hair until it’s thoroughly dry, before applying the barrels to create the curls." Larry also recommends using the Chitosan Curly to Coily Pre-style Cream for added smoothness. "If needed, you can also use the Dyson Corrale to smooth out the hair before using the barrels.”
  • For thin hair: “When you’re styling fine hair, I think the key here is to keep a blunt haircut with a solid baseline, and then take the Dyson Airwrap and use the rounded brush to really bend the ends under to give your hair the fuller, more volumised look and make the hair look thicker,” he adds.
What is the best way to get the curls to last longer when using the Dyson Airwrap?

For hair that tends to drop easily, Larry recommends opting for the 30mm barrel or the 20mm barrel. “These attachments will create tighter curls that will last longer,” he explains.

“Two absolute key tips are to always make sure you’re drying the hair until it’s fully dry," Larry shares. "If you use the barrels and curl your hair, but they’re still a bit wet, they’re not going to hold. Then, always use the cold shot to lock in the curls, as that will help them to hold.”
