Daniel Day-Lewis, the star of Gangs of New York and The Last of the Mohicans, has officially retired from acting.
During his career, the 60-year-old British actor picked up three Academy Awards for his roles in Lincoln, My Left Foot and There Will Be Blood. He was knighted by the Duke of Cambridge at the Queen's birthday honours in 2014.
His representative, Leslee Dart, said in a statement: "Daniel Day-Lewis will no longer be working as an actor. He is immensely grateful to all of his collaborators and audiences over the many years. This is a private decision and neither he nor his representatives will make any further comment on this subject."
Daniel's final film Phantom Thread, will see him reunited with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson. It's due for release later this year.
