For all the incredible influencers who campaign for body positivity on the internet (we see you, Alex Light and Em Clarkson), another editing app will come along to make people feel utterly sh** about their bodies.
In a shocking viral video shared by self-love influencer Danae Mercer, content creators can now edit the shape and size of their bodies whilst editing the speed and saturation of their videos - and it's really rather horrifying.
Danae shared a video tutorial showing how easy it was to totally alter the shape and size of her body in just a few clicks using the unnamed app, hailing it the most ‘convincing' editing app she's ever come across.

“Technology like this is only going to become more common. And it’s becoming SMARTER,” she wrote in a caption alongside the video. "It’s glitching less, feeling more natural, basically PHOTOSHOPPING BODIES in VIDEOS better.
“It worries me. Especially THIS update worries me. Because the video editor app? It’s super popular with teens, it advertises loads on TikTok. It's a big one. And it hurts my heart because we deserve better. Our littles deserve better. Be careful out there.”
Her enlightening video has had 47,000 likes and thousands of comments from horrified viewers, one of whom wrote: :"I’m scared for my kids and their friends and more motivated than ever to arm them with the skills to see past this technology." Another dismayed user wrote: “I’m nearly 60 years old and had body issues before all the filtering, cosmetic surgeries and treatments along with fabulous beauty care and make up plus fabrics that are so flattering. God help people of today,” and another added: “Between these apps, and everyone changing their bodies with plastic surgery when they don’t like something. I feel sorry for the younger generations, no wonder they’re so confused on everything. Never once did I have to think about people editing their bodies as a child because the internet wasn’t like that yet. Thanks for speaking truth.”
Remember: your body is incredible just as it is and embracing the real you is the most empowering thing you can do.
