Married at First Sight UK has had a tumultuous season with several controversial characters along the way, and one particular cast member who people have thoughts on is Caspar.
Caspar and Emma were paired together by the MAFS UK experts because they seemed to share similar values and lifestyle hopes, though things immediately got off to a rocky start after Caspar was visibly less thrilled with the match than Emma was.
In fact, Caspar was quick to liken bride Emma to his twin sister. Needless to say, not top of the list of things you want to hear on your wedding day.
As the season plays out things have seemingly not improved, with Caspar telling Emma that he hadn't felt “that spark” he was “hoping to feel”. Nevertheless, despite a frankly catastrophic honeymoon and uncomfortable commitment ceremony, the two agreed to work on their relationship.
So are MAFS UK's Caspar and Emma still together? Here's what we know about whether the couple have gone the distance.
Caspar and Emma's MAFS UK journey
First off, let's take a look over Caspar and Emma's MAFS UK journey so far.
On their wedding day it was very apparent that Emma was happier with the match than Caspar was, with his aesthetic aligning well with what she was looking for in a partner.
However, as if the comparison of Emma to his sister weren't apparent enough, we later learn that Caspar has a difficult relationship with his sibling, cementing the assumption that this comparison is not a particularly favourable one and setting the tone for the next few weeks of the couple getting to know one another.
Come their honeymoon, the two get into an argument after Caspar concedes that he doesn't find Emma attractive.
When asked by Emma "Do you think I look sexy tonight"?", Caspar responds simply with “No.”
When the commitment ceremonies rolled around, it's safe to say that we didn't have high hopes for the relationship. Put simply, the episode was a deeply uncomfortable watch.
Gardener Caspar accused producers of “f*cking with his life” by pairing him with Emma, saying “I haven't found her sexy and I have seen some of the same mannerisms with my sister as well. I tried to do it in the nicest way possible and I failed at that. If I lied, would that have been better?"
The show's relationship experts (Charlene Douglas, Mel Schilling and Paul Brunson) pushed Casper to acknowledge how insensitive his comments had been, though ultimately the two decided to give their marriage a try and stay in the experiment.
In the couple's second commitment ceremony, however, while the same issues came up, both Caspar and Emma seemed to have made positive changes to their behaviour with one another and things seemed to be looking up.
We're getting mixed messages.
Are MAFS UK's Caspar and Emma still together?
Given that the couples aren't allowed to discuss their relationship status until after the final few episodes of MAFS UK have aired, we can't say for certain whether Caspar and Emma are still together.
While we don't have confirmation of their relationship status, both Caspar and Emma are still following one another on Instagram which is definitely always a positive sign.
That said, the episode of MAFS UK that aired on October 22 saw Caspar seemingly hint that he wasn't in it for the long haul.
In the episode, Charlene told the pair that they needed to establish boundaries and better understand one another's turn ons and offs. After Emma spoke on her struggle with being vulnerable with Caspar, he responded with "I need to learn this. Even if Emma and I don't make it work. There are things I need to learn about how I can build intimacy and gain more comfort quicker, so that whoever I might be dating doesn't think, 'He's standing off and doesn't fancy me.' I need to learn to do this for a future relationship."
A “future relationship”, Caspar? It certainly feels like the two might not be together anymore.
