Casey Affleck has been an award season favourite this year and last night, he won his first Oscar for his role as a grief stricken janitor in Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester By The Sea.
But how much do we really know about the new 41-year-old Hollywood hotshot? Here are ten facts about Casey that we guarantee you didn't know...

The pair shared a sweet moment when Casey was named Best Actor as his brother rushed over to give him an emotional hug.
The two have been close since their childhood together and even had the same friends despite being in different year groups at school, according to Casey.
Casey’s childhood friend Matt Damon was one of the producers of Manchester By The Sea and after having to drop out as the lead role due to a last minute scheduling conflict, Matt gave Casey the role instead.
In his Oscar speech, Casey took a moment to thank his Hollywood hero Denzel Washington for teaching him how to act.
“One of the first people who taught me how to act was Denzel Washington and I just met him tonight,” he said. “Thank you.”
Casey starred in Ben Affleck’s directorial venture Gone Baby Gone as a conflicted private investigator in 2007.
He also starred in crime comedy-drama film To Die For alongside Nicole Kidman in 1995.
While he was studying at University, Casey was offered a role in the classic 90s movie Good Will Hunting starring both his brother and Matt Damon.
Ben and Matt wrote the role especially for Casey but at first, he was reluctant to leave his studies temporarily to star in the movie.
Bet he’s glad he did now though…
At the age of ten, Casey spent a year travelling around Mexico with his mother and his brother. During his time there, he learnt how to speak Spanish.
Casey has been under much scrutiny over sexual harassment allegations that were made against him in 2010. Producer Amanda White and cinematographer Magdalena Gorka sued for $2m and $2.25m respectively over alleged offences during the filming of the mockumentary I'm Still Here which he directed and orchestrated alongside his former brother-in-law Joaquin Phoenix.
Affleck has repeatedly denied the allegations, but settled both claims out of court in 2010. Read more about these cases here.
Following his split from his wife of nine years Summer Phoenix in 2015, Casey is in a new relationship with actress Floriana Lima who is best known for starring CW series Supergirl. The pairs started dating in October 2016 and made their red carpet debut together at the Vanity Fair Oscars after party.
In a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel before the Oscars, Casey’s brother Ben revealed a list of embarrassing facts about his younger brother as revenge for not thanking him in his Golden Globes acceptance speech. One of them was that “[He’d be] the first person to win who’s scared of butterflies.”
He also said that Casey’s Oscar win would “be the very first time someone would win an Oscar who didn’t brush his teeth from ages 10-14.”
Casey is another one to add to our list of celebrity vegans. But unlike many who have just recently converted, he has been a vegan since 1995.
