Rihanna may not be in attendance at the Brit Awards 2023 (sob), but her maternity style has clearly left quite a legacy. Who could forget her iconic pregnancy announcement, which saw her stroll through a snowing New York street with her baby bump visible under a Chanel puffer coat? Queen Ri rewrote the rulebook of pregnancy fashion – which has typically revolve around “flattering”, “bump skimming”, “easy-to-wear” pieces – and embraced her growing body in all its glory.
TBH, we're still not over it. And thankfully, neither is the rest of celebdom, as the A-list took to this year's Brit Awards red carpet with three bump-baring looks from Jessie J, Kamille, and Montana Brown.
If you weren't already on board with the Jessie J-naissance, that's about to change. The iconic musician just walked the Brit Awards red carpet for the first time in ten years, and let's just say, she owned it.
Jessie wore a crimson lace bodysuit with a cut-out for her glorious baby bump. In an interview on the red carpet with Capital FM, Jessie confirmed that she's expecting a boy and spoke about Rihanna's maternity style, saying, “Rihanna wearing her baby bump out so recently… I didn't think ahead on any of this; I don't think when she was doing all of that, that I was even pregnant. But why not?”
In an Instagram video posted earlier today, she confirmed the sex of her baby, singing a song with the lyrics, “Something's happening that I've been waiting for. I feel its weight, falling to the floor.”
In the accompanying caption, she wrote, “Since I wrote this song every time I play it or sing it he moves like crazy… so I think this song is the one.”
She then added, “Oh yeah…I'm having a boy.” In November 2021, Jessie J bravely spoke up about experiencing a miscarriage. Appearing on The Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett podcast, she described the “intense sadness and grief” of baby loss.
She then described her decision to have a baby on her own, saying, “It’s all I’ve ever wanted and life is short […] To get pregnant was a miracle in itself and an experience I will never forget and I know I will have again.”
Jessie is now expecting a child with Chanan Safir Colman, a basketballer who plays for Israeli club Hapoel Haifa.
“I’ve never felt so lonely in my life.”

She wasn't the only A-lister rocking a bump-baring fit on the Brit Awards red carpet. Kamille also ensured her baby bump was the pièce de résistance of her look, wearing a hooded turquoise gown with fitted gloves and, of course, a bump-sized cut-out.
The Grammy winner posted the look to Instagram, captioning it, “❤️ BRITS 2023 ❤️ styling @toniblaze, glam (me), vibes (bump).” You can take a look here:

Next up, Montana Brown took to the red carpet wearing a sleek, wraparound dress by Lurelly with a curved cut-out for her bump.
She shared a preview of the look on her Instagram with the caption, “She’s making her way to the big city… @brits 🖤”
