Blake Lively has never met a pantsuit she didn’t like – and this one just might be our favourite.
On 10 February, Blake hit the red carpet for the opening of Broadway’s The Music Man starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster wearing a sternum-baring Sergio Hudson pantsuit that’s somewhere between violet and eggplant. A deep royal purple, perhaps (pur-haps?).
The actor wore her nectar blonde hair in loose curls, with one side tucked behind her ears to show off a pair of green and purple earrings by Lorraine Schwartz, according to one fan-made Blake Lively style account. She reportedly topped off the look with a crystal-covered Chanel bag and purple crystal-dotted heels by Christian Louboutin. In order not to overpower the look, Blake opted for neutral makeup and nails.
Yes, the carpet was literally red, and yes, the step-and-repeat behind her was bright blue, but the Gossip Girl star managed to pull off the tricky shade without clashing with her surroundings. She’s a style star for a reason, people!
Of course, Blake was accompanied to the theatre by her husband, Ryan Reynolds, who also wore a purple suit!
Ryan later gave the show a rave review on his Instagram Stories, writing:
“I don’t generally like to speak about @thehughjackman. Particularly in a positive light. But his performance in @musicmanbway is one of the most electric things I’ve ever seen him do. The chemistry between he [sic] and @suttonlenore is off the charts…and this cast leaves nothing on the field. The entire theater was shaking. Can’t get @philliptheboycan’s incredible voice outta my head and I don’t want to. Spectacular.”
Ryan and Hugh Jackman have been in a joke feud for years.
But back to the suits! Did we expect anything less from this sartorial couple? No, we did not. Blake Lively is a fashion A-lister (and a music video director!), while Ryans rarely disappoints. 10/10.
