During her most recent outing, Selena Gomez is showing that the London air clearly suits her.
On May 15, the 33-year-old pop star and Rare Beauty founder proved that chocolate brown is effortlessly making its way into the summer season, courtesy of a shimmery knit dress featuring hand-beaded fringe that swayed as she walked by the paparazzi. She paired the dress with nude satin pumps and simple gold hoops, creating a sense of ease, complete with sleek ponytail.
From her barely-there nails to subtle diamond rings, everything about this look felt deliciously expensive – and most of it actually was. Her Cult Gaia dress, alone, retails for just under £3,000. However, there's one affordable detail that didn't make it into the paparazzi shots, though it complimented every facet of the look. According to a rep for the brand Aupen, Gomez carried their Nirvana shoulder bag in a luxurious chocolate brown, which retails for £321 on their website. In terms of celebrity splurges, this one is definitely on the affordable side of the spectrum.
If the brand sounds familiar, it's probably because so many celebrities — including Gomez — have been captured carrying Aupen's bag range recent years. The Singapore-based brand's other clients include Charli XCX, Olivia Rodrigo, Aubrey Plaza, Karlie Kloss and Gomez's own bestie, Taylor Swift.
Swift herself has multiple asymmetrical shoulder bags from Aupen in her arsenal, including the Nirvana style in black, which she first wore on a date with Travis Kelce back in 2023.
Like Swift, Selena Gomez's Nirvana bag featured a braided handle, though she (apparently) chose a deep brown with gold hardware and a chic bean-shaped bag charm. The popular bag, which often sells out, is currently available in multiple other colours and styles, from camel suede to a woven raffia that's perfect for summer. I have a feeling Taylor Swift would approve of that one, in particular.
