Thanks to Miu Miu, Tory Burch and Hodakova – to name but a few designers – the humble Spring cardigan is so back. And this season, we're having fun with styling. Of course, wearing a Spring cardigan buttoned atop a plain white t-shirt still has its worth (particularly during blustery April showers) – but if you want to wear yours like the fashion set, you'll lean a little less practical.
Glamour's favourite Spring cardigans:
From now-through-June, throw a cashmere cardigan around your shoulders and over your leather bomber or funnel neck jacket. Or, pair with a checked shirt and baggy jeans – and wear tied around your waist. Otherwise, style à la Bottega Veneta's spring/summer 2026 runway, around your shoulders and atop a structured blazer – or, wear two. Yep, on the Hodakova spring/summer 2026 runway, we spotted cardigans layered over cardigans – perfect for cool Spring days.
As for the style of cardigan to go for, you have choice. Just keep your fit a little baggy. Cast your mind back to summer ‘24, and fitted cardigans reigned supreme. While they hold value, this season, we’re going oversized to serve a variety of layering options.
Structured shoulders are a nice design detail to seek out – as seen on the spring/summer 2026 runways at Chloé and Chanel – while zip-through Spring cardigans are proving exceptionally popular. Homage to the quarter-zip movement, Miu Miu offered a playful take on the zip-through cardi, which has been mimicked in M&S' sell-out collared knit jacket (in both burgundy and mink) seen below.
Colour wise, lemon yellow still has its place. The trend first emerged last year, with tailoring, Spring trench coats and Spring wedding guest dresses all being cut in the buttery hue. More recently, Louise Trotter sent lemon yellow knitwear down her first Bottega Veneta runway, while high-street heroes New Look, COS and the recently-launched-in-John-Lewis Topshop have all dropped pastel cardigans as part of their latest collections.
From a throw-on sub-£20 New Look cardigan to cable knit cardis at COS and ruffle-adorned knits at M&S, ahead, find the very best Spring cardigans to shop from just £15.
Lemon Yellow Cardigans
Starting where we left off, with butter yellow. Undercover leaned into the grandad-core trend, sending an oversized lemon cardigan down their SS26 runway, while Stella McCartney, Chloé and Loewe all featured yellow knitwear in their warm-weather collections. Layer New Look's £15 crew neck cardigan over a matching fine-knit vest, or pair COS' timeless and chunky Merino Wool design with wide-leg trousers or baggy jeans.

Chunky Cardigans
Oversized cardigans were big news on the SS26 runways, with brands including Hodakova layering one atop another. Keep the knit chunky and your colour choice understated with cable-knit options from COS, & Other Stories and Aligne, or, take inspiration from Missoni and opt for something patterned and logo-adorned.
Structured Cardigans
We've seen an abundance of structured shoulders feature on spring/summer 2026 runways – case in point: Chanel, Chloé and Saint Laurent – ever present in this year's Spring cardigan offering. But if structured shoulders aren't your thing, peplum hems and fitted waists might be. We love the long-line cut of Aligne's Daphe knit, which cuts at the waist and skims the top of the thigh.
Zip-Through Cardigans
On Miu Miu's spring/summer 2026, zip-through knits were spotted layered beneath crochet dresses, while Matthieu Blazy sent a chic piece of camel-coloured quarter-zip knitwear down the Chanel runway. As such, brands from M&S to London-based label Minka Dink have cropped zip-up cardigans as part of their latest lines. Best styled with the zip done all the way to the top.
Crochet Cardigans
Take a leaf out of Isabel Marant's book and will some warmer weather by styling a woven, crochet knit with utilitarian outerwear or trousers – or indigo denim. Breathability? Check. Boho top trend – à la Chloé – nailed? Indeed. M&S' collared cardigan is the style we're making a beeline for.
