Ever since Anya Taylor-Joy came into our world with the release of the record-breaking The Queen's Gambit, the actor quickly became one of our favourite style icons and we always love to see her red carpet looks.
And it's safe to say, her 2024 Oscars look by Dior did not disappoint.
"My dress is inspired by Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus' painting," Anya Taylor-Joy revealed in an interview on the red carpet. But her Oscar gown makes us think of something else entirely: a silver-plated mermaid.
The floor-length skirt of the haute couture Dior gown is visually reminiscent of shiny XXL scales, while the mermaid effect is enhanced by the tight-fitting bandeau top. Meanwhile, the dropped-waistline means that the skirt only starts at almost hip height, creating an Ariel-like, eye-catching silhouette.
The actor's dress for the 2024 Oscars was created by Parisian fashion house Dior, while Anya Taylor-Joy accessorised with jewellery from Tiffany & Co., including pieces from their Blue Book collection which was inspired by the underwater world. A perfect addition to her mermaid look!
For her hair and make-up, Anya Taylor-Joy stuck followed a well-known style rule that always applies: if the dress is an absolute eye-catcher, then the beauty look should not outshine it, but simply complement it.
In line with this, the actor wore her blonde hair loose and combed behind her ears so that it fell loosely over her low-cut back, while opting for a more subtle make-up look.
