You'd think that, after a year and a half, the Amazon earrings would have declined in popularity. But no. Still gracing the lobes of just about every celebrity, stylist, influencer and fashion writer (me), the designer-inspired teardrop pair are, in fact, as sought-after as ever.
“Are those the Amazon earrings or…?” Is the question I'm asked every time I don mine, and the fact that people can't tell informs me that they were, indeed, a wise purchase. One I'd make again in a heartbeat – even more so now that they're included in the Amazon Prime Day sales.
If you've been living under a rock and haven't heard about them by now, allow me to fill you in. Bottega Veneta introduced their Drop Earrings circa Fashion Week 2023, and since then they've officially become a must-have accessory.
The catch? They're over £500 and are often out of stock. Told you the hype was real. The good news? A plethora of high street stores have been dropping similarly-luxe versions, including Amazon.
So where do the comparisons lie? Well, aside from looking exactly the same, Amazon's iteration are made from 18k gold-plated sterling silver while the actual Bottega Veneta Drop Earrings are 18k gold-finished sterling silver. The original pair will set you back £560, but Amazon's are currently £6.93 – saving you just over £553 to treat yourself elsewhere. Amazon beauty deals, anyone?
As for how to wear them, one quick scroll through your Instagram feed should serve you all the inspiration you need.
Kylie Jenner wears her silver pair with a simple black T-shirt (probs SKIMS), a red lip and a messy bun, while Hailey Bieber complements her gold ones with that Strawberry Girl aesthetic she's so renowned for.
The A-lister obsession doesn't end there, either; Rosie Huntington Whiteley has been donning the chunky style in all-black outfits since 2022, so you know they're a trend that's going to stick around. If RHW approves something, then we all do.
