With how stressful life has gotten, we all need a good crime drama to switch our brains off. A Taste for Murder is the perfect follow-up to ease that Number One Fan hangover, or even soften the heartbreak after Mint. We can't even talk about that Mint ending just yet.

We’re even taking a break from beloved true crime documentaries like Should I Marry a Murderer? to dive into ITV’s delicious new drama, A Taste for Murder.

It’s got Italian landscapes, mouth-watering meals, and a murder to solve… honestly, we’re already seated with a plate.

DCI Joe Mottram’s parents-in-law own a beachside family restaurant, and they share their recipes with him and his teenage daughter, Angelica, when they come to stay for some much-needed respite following the sudden death of Joe’s wife (and Angelica’s mum). But peace is short-lived, as Joe’s trip to Capri is soon interrupted by a murder investigation. A local man's body has been found, and the suspect is someone close to home…

As dark as the events of A Taste for Murder are, we can’t help getting distracted by the stunning scenery. So, if you’re already planning a last-minute escape (ideally without any suspicious deaths while you’re out of office), here are all the filming locations for A Taste for Murder.

Where was A Taste for Murder filmed?

Capri, Italy

The six-part series is set on the luxurious, sun-soaked island of Capri, surrounded by the Tyrrhenian Sea in Italy. And unlike some shows that film elsewhere (cough The Teacher), A Taste for Murder actually brings the goods, with scenes shot on location in Capri itself.

This lush Italian island sits in the Bay of Naples and is known for its dramatic coastline. Expect sweeping shots of Capri’s iconic cliffs, complete with striking limestone formations and sheer drops.

Naples, Italy

In episode three, Joe heads to Naples, and these scenes were filmed on location in the city itself, the capital of the Campania region in southern Italy. As the birthplace of pizza, it’s a fitting backdrop for A Taste for Murder.

More specifically, filming took place in the vibrant neighbourhood of Marianella, known for its authentic, local feel.

Amalfi Coast, Italy

Some of the more coastal scenes were filmed along Italy’s picturesque Amalfi Coast. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, filming here is notoriously tricky thanks to high costs and heavy crowds — so it’s used sparingly in A Taste for Murder.

That said, all of the series’ sweeping aerial shots were captured in Italy, making the most of the country’s jaw-dropping coastline. Keep an eye out for the charming village of Cetara, perched along the Amalfi Coast and known for its 16th-century tower and the Church of San Pietro Apostolo.

Opatija, Croatia

Now for the twist. Despite the action being set in Italy, A Taste for Murder was primarily filmed in Croatia. Fun fact: Virgin Island was also filmed in Croatia.

One of the key locations used was Opatija, a coastal town often dubbed the “Pearl of the Adriatic,” known for its elegant villas and pebbled coves.

In particular, scenes set in the Da Vinale family’s popular seaside restaurant were reportedly filmed in Opatija. Speaking to Country & Town House, series producer Jo McGrath explained, “The moment the team came back from the recce and showed us the location, we knew we had a show."

“It’s a beautiful location but abandoned and a little worn. The vista and the view were everything we had envisaged for the show.”

Now, ready for a big surprise?

The same location used for the Da Vinale family taverna in Opatija reportedly doubled as the show’s police precinct. Talk about two birds with one stone.

Volosko, Croatia

Scenes for A Taste for Murder were also filmed in Volosko, a fishing village just outside Opatija. The village is particularly well known for its excellent seafood restaurants and relaxed harbour charm, making it a perfect fit for a series like A Taste for Murder.

Labin, Croatia

The final Croatian filming location for A Taste for Murder was Labin. Located in the Istrian region, the town is known for its beautifully preserved historic architecture and spectacular hilltop views.

Zagreb, Croatia

A quick stop in the Croatian capital, where A Taste For Murder was filmed in Dubrava University Hospital, and the Museum of Arts and Crafts.
