Zara just dropped its summer collection and now we're 100% sure this is the colour of the season
We've been preaching the values of beige since the start of the year, but for the doubters it wasn't until the street style set at London Fashion Week turned out in coordinated neutral looks that everyone truly caught on.
Despite the term beige's less-than-exciting connotations, fashion brands have quickly picked up on our appetite for these buttery shades, serving up a smorgasbord of delicious blandly-hued pieces often created to be worn together as part of a head-to-toe tonal look.
Universally flattering, it's one of those colours that suits every skin tone, every shape, every personal style.
So it's no surprise, therefore, that Zara - a high street label renowned for tapping into exactly what its customer wants, exactly when they want it - has leapt feet first into the trend, launching their spring/summer offering with neutral browns, creams and, yup, beiges forming the collection's backbone. Unlike most summer collections, there's a distinct lack of bright, punchy hues.
Don't get us wrong - it's not entirely devoid of colour. Instead making use of softer, sandier shades, elegant cream maxi dresses are accented with deep red piping to the seams, while others have burgundy stripes or printed pattern-work.
Khakis, golden (note: not neon) yellows and rust shades are dotted around too, reflecting the overall warm, understated feel of the collection. After all, the campaign was shot in a desert...
