Yellow is the joy-boosting colour trend of the moment, and fashion insiders can't get enough
While the year's official seasonal transitions may have been somewhat blurred thanks to the monotonous nature of lockdown, we have, in fact, moved on several seasons since we first embarked upon national quarantine all those months ago. And with the country having tentatively lifted restrictions, it's time to start considering clothes that aren't solely from the loungewear spectrum.
And as if the summer solstice last month wasn't enough to signal the beginning of the new season, last week's sweltering heat wave ought to have done the job. (The less said about this week's torrential downpours the better...)
Looking to treat yourself?
But how to mark the new season? With many of us not yet keen on the idea of returning to full normality - you know, with work drinks every Thursday and Friday nights and huge family barbecues every weekend - many of us have been looking to alternative - admittedly less exciting - avenues. One of the most common being a wardrobe overhaul.
Whether you've been swapping out your coats for your summer dresses, your dash-to-the-supermarket trainers for a pair of dash-to-the-supermarket sandals, or your black running bra for your white one (radical), you've no doubt had some degree of a sartorial switch up.
But, as and when we're all comfortable doing so, what ARE we going to wear for our forays back into the real world?
May we suggest something controversial? Head for yellow.
A shade feared by many - whether that be in fear of standing out too much, washing out blondes, or attracting a family of hungry bees to the picnic - yellow, in all its many forms, is fast-becoming the colour of the season.
It's also the most uplifting joyful colour you can wear, and let's face it we deserve as much cheer as we can get our hands on right now.
