Oprah just revealed if she’ll be running for president in 2020
Bad news for Oprah Winfrey fans; the legendary TV host has ruled herself out of the race to become the next president of the United States, saying she doesn't 'have the DNA' for it.
The talkshow host and media mogul sparked speculation she could be in line for the job following her epic speech at The Golden Globes earlier this month, with a plethora of high-profile stars backing her for the post.
However, Winfrey has claimed she has 'no desire' to stand as a Democratic candidate for the 2020 election, telling InStyle 'It's not something that interests me'.
Yes, we're devastated too.
We all got excited when TV host, actress and all-round American icon Oprah Winfrey came out last March and said that in the age of Donald Trump, she could think about running for President in 2020.
Speaking to David Rubenstein on his Bloomberg Television programme, Winfrey said she had previously brushed off thoughts of ever running: "I never considered the question even a possibility... I thought, 'Oh, gee, I don't have the experience, I don't know enough.' And now I'm thinking, 'Oh.'"
Which other high profilers could run?
Michelle Obama: Following Trump's historic win, we were all given hope when the internet rallied together to encourage Mrs Obama to run in the next election. After keeping a tight upper lip for a while, Michelle [ironically] spoke to Oprah Winfrey about her plans, stating: “I don't make stuff up, I'm not coy. I'm pretty direct. If I was interested in it, I would say. I don't believe in playing games.” Sob.
Joe Biden: Vice President to Barack Obama (and one half of one of the greatest political bromances of all time), Joe considered running in 2015 against Hillary Clinton and Bernie Saunders, but announced he would not pursue a campaign - in part because of the recent death of his son Beau Biden. However, late last year, Biden said: “Yeah, I am. I am going to run in 2020." He continued: “I'm not committing not to run. I'm not committed to anything. I learned a long time ago, fate has a strange way of intervening.”
Kanye West: While at first we were sure this was a joke, Kanye announced at the 2015 VMAs that he would be making a bid for the White House in 2020. He's since shown further interest publicly, too. Hmmm...

Taylor Swift near enough took over the world this year. In July, she was named the world’s best-selling artist with 6 million copies of her album 1989 worldwide. Her single, Shake It Off, got us out of bed every day during the winter months and she firmly brought the idea of girl gangs back to the masses with her famous “squad” of friends. Positive, refreshing and strong, Swift has made it cool to be the nice girl again.

The 2015 Oscars were dubbed the feminist Oscars for many reasons, but largely because of Patricia Arquette’s acceptance speech, when she used the occasion to demand equal rights between men and women. Her powerful and rousing words were met with whooping and air punches from Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lopez, who cheered from the audience.

As far as achievements go, becoming the youngest MP elected to the House of Commons since 1980 ranks pretty highly. At just 20, Glasgow-born Mhairi Black was made the SNP MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire South – not bad considering her previous job was in a fish and chip shop. Her first speech delivered in the Commons in July wowed the masses, as she persuasively attacked the Conservative party about social inequality, and offered an olive branch to the Labour party to help form a strong opposition to the Tories. An all-round very impressive 21-year-old.

J-Law has been on our pint list for some time now, but our love for her grew last year when she penned an impassioned public essay about the gender pay gap. She addressed reports that she was paid far less than her male co-stars in American Hustle, or as he described “the lucky people with dicks”, saying that it’s high time that women speak out about these issues and not worry about being viewed as whiney or demanding. “I’m over trying to find the ‘adorable’ way to state my opinion and still be likeable,” she wrote. “Fuck that.”

It's likely that Jennifer Lawrence would have been less likely to have voiced her opinions about the pay gap had she not had an outlet to do so, which was provided by all-round legend and overachiever Lena Dunham. The Girls creator launched the Lenny Letter, a mix of feminism, style, health, politics and friendship-related content. It’s brilliant – intelligent, entertaining and relatable content. Dunham strikes again.

Her speech at the 2015 SAGs was moving, but it was her words at the Emmys that will go down in history. She discussed the lack of acting opportunities for black women, casing many women in the audience - including Kerry Washington – to well up. “Let me tell you something: The only thing that separates women of colour from anyone else is opportunity,” she said. “You cannot win an Emmy for roles that are simply not there.”
