Following Fashion

With London Fashion Week fast approaching, Phong Luu, writer at the Daily Telegraph, chooses the most interesting, irreverent & damn stylish people to follow on Twitter
PA PhotosAlexa Chung
Officially, she's a TV presenter slash model. Unofficially, Alexa Chung is everybody's favourite clothes horse. The three-times winner of the Style Icon prize (hmm, maybe the clothes horse tag isn't so unofficial after all) at the British Fashion Awards regularly tweets pictures of her and her equally stylish pals Tennessee Thomas, Derek Blasberg, Leigh Lezark and Harley Viera Newton at home, at work, on holiday. A bonus for us nosey types.

PA PhotosRihanna
Pop princess turns fashion designer. River Island have tapped her urban chic for a new clothing range, which will be given the runway treatment at London Fashion Week on Saturday - the coolest catwalk cum concert (it's a dead cert the show will morph into a singalong headed by Riri ).

Burberry
It’s one of the world's biggest luxury labels - and social media gurus. Whether they're spearheading the world's first "Tweetwalk" - they posted pictures of models backstage before they took to the catwalk, treating their followers to the first look at the spring/summer 2012 collection - or tweeting behind-the-scene photos of their campaign with Romeo Beckham, Burberry's share-everything philosophy rewards devotees with pleasant surprises.

Jo Elvin
Need-to-know celebrity and fashion news from the editor of Glamour, the UK's best-selling magazine. Get the inside track on the Glamour Women Of The Year Awards, gossip from the latest shoots, and more from this hilariously candid, anti-Miranda Priestly of editrices ("There's something desperately wrong when you're home from a night out before your 7-year-old is back from hers").

PA PhotosHenry Holland
Designer Henry Holland's musings on fashion ("Our fave @RitaOra in one of our Pom Floral Dresses looking daym HAWT!!"), the gym ("Watch out Madonna, Pliates is my new thing") and, er, Lance Armstrong ("Last night I had an illicit affair with Lance Armstrong - in my dream") are as irreverent as his gravity-defying quiff. Highly entertaining.

Rex FeaturesCara Delevingne
The model of the moment has just made the cover of the latest issue of Vogue - and she's not done it on looks alone. The affable younger sis of Poppy Delevingne, Cara is a favourite with street-style photographers for her frankly impressive range of facial expressions - all of them (intentionally) hilarious. The biggest personality in modelling since Kate Moss - and it shows in her consistently funny tweets.

Rex FeaturesPoppy Delevingne
So stylish, she's an ambassador for both Chanel and the British Fashion Council. The husky-voiced sometime-model is an impeccably dressed regular at swanky fashion shindigs and on the front row. Poppy’s one half of possibly the most photogenic siblings in the world: she's the older sister of hot model Cara Delevingne.
Twitter:@DelevingnePoppy
PA PhotosChristian Louboutin
"Red Soles: The International Symbol Of Love", Christian Louboutin tweeted. To which we add: "And Of Amazing Shoes". If you're a lover of his beautiful heels with signature flash of crimson (and who isn't?), this is shoe nirvana - he regularly uploads artily shot photos.

Rex FeaturesRita Ora
Spotted at the Chanel Couture show, sang at the British Fashion Awards - swiftly becoming one to watch on the fashion circuit. The platinum-haired, red-lipped singer has been compared to Rihanna, but Gwen Stefani is actually her style idol. "I always thought she was so cool. I think I'm man enough to admit she made me want to wear red lipstick," Rita revealed to Asos Magazine.

Choupette/twitterChoupette
The world's best-connected cat - he's Karl Lagerfeld's kitty. Coo over him eating prawn birthday cake and sitting on model Daphne Groeneveld's head. Having paws is apparently no barrier to being witty.
Twitter:@ChoupettesDiary
Rex FeaturesCaroline Issa
Time was, fashion editors reported on the models in the big campaigns. Now they are the models in the big campaigns. If you recognise Caroline Issa, Tank Magazine's beautiful executive fashion director, that's because she's starred in ads for J Crew, Jimmy Choo and LK Bennett, for which she's also designed a collection. One face to keep definitely on the fashion radar.

Getty ImagesCathy Horyn
No-holds-barred fashion critic of The New York Times who says it like it is, much to the chagrin of some designers. She had spats last season with Oscar de la Renta ("Mr de la Renta is far more a hot dog than an eminence grise of American fashion") and Hedi Slimane (he took offence to an article she wrote saying Dior designer Raf Simons laid the groundwork for the skinny-jacket-and-jeans silhouette that's become his signature and refused to invite her to his debut show for Saint Laurent). The latter feud was played out partly over Twitter, when Slimane posted an open letter that called Horyn "a schoolyard bully and also a little bit of a stand-up comedian". Unpredictability - a huge part of the appeal of following Horyn.

Rex FeaturesCoco Rocha
A massive fan of social media, Coco Rocha was the world's first model to get 1 million followers on Google+. Refreshing because of her outspoken views: "Every woman has a right to present herself as she feels comfortable. No valid career should strip you of that, including modelling" - Rocha doesn't do nude modelling. Intelligent and insightful.

Rex FeaturesJourdan Dunn
Want insight into the charmed life of one of the world's top models? Follow Jourdan Dunn. Want insight on how to cook a mean jerk pork? Follow Jourdan Dunn; lately, she's been presenting her own cookery programme (of sorts - it's all very tongue-in-cheek) on Jay-Z's website, Life + Times - "Well Dunn with Jourdan Dunn".

Rex FeaturesJulia Sarr-Jamois
There's cool - and there's Julia Sarr-Jamois. The Wonderland fashion editor's ability to work the trickiest of trends (clashing colours, snakeskin miniskirts, grey wool tights) is applaudable. She's jet-set - partying with Dolce & Gabbana one weekend, styling the boys of One Direction the next - but we like that she still finds time to tweet a picture of Shetland ponies wearing sweaters - priceless.
Twitter:@Sarrjamois
Rex FeaturesDerek Blasberg
Dashing dandy around town who doesn't clock in until cocktail hour - cue album-loads of photos of him schmoozing with his BFFs Alexa Chung, Poppy Delevingne et al at some of the most fancy fashion parties. The fashion writer has always got an Oscar Wilde-esque quip up his Twitter sleeve and is the premier wordsmith in Fashionese: "Carbocide" (death by ODing on carbs) and "Sandaloot" (sandal and boot hybrid) are his doing.

Candice LakeManrepeller AKA Leandra Medine
AKA The blogosphere's funniest writer - and you thought fashion types didn't have a sense of humour. A lover of drop-crotch trousers and fur-lined Jesus sandals (really), count on Medine to wax funny on Fashion Men -and Possibly A Lot Of Women -Don't Get.

Lucy WilliamsLucy Williams
Shot by photographer extraordinaire Tommy Ton for online style bible style.com, this fashion journalist (who's a dead ringer for Sienna Miller) is fast becoming the new darling of street style. She's all kinds of battered bikers and skinny jeans effortlessness, and readily divulges the gems she finds from little-known, accessibly priced labels, too.
Twitter:@Fashion_Me_Now
Alexandra Shulman
Thoughts from the head honcho of the most influential glossy in the UK and author of Can We Still Be Friends? The ultimate industry insider, Shulman tweets news from the fashion front line, including, most importantly, life inside the most stylish office in the country: "@BritishVogue girls suddenly wearing brogues. I can't ditch my heels for fashion but they are."
Twitter:@AShulman2
Rex FeaturesLindsey Wixson
She’s the other gap-toothed model who isn't Lara Stone. The distinctive-looking Kansas-born beauty has worked with all the biggies in the business - Prada, McQueen, Chanel, Dior - but her Twitter paints a picture of a regular teen (she's only 18), which makes her all the more interesting: doing rounds of golf with her dad and dining at restaurants back home in Wichita.
Twitter:@lindseywixson
Rex FeaturesMiroslava Duma
One of the "Russian Mafia" - a glamorous posse of Russian women stalked by street-style blogs - pint-sized fashion editor Miroslava Duma punches big with her incredible wardrobe of Chanel, Proenza Schouler, Mary Katrantzou and Christopher Kane during fashion month. Prepare to be inspired by (or get jealous of) her outfit posts.

DvoraAnna Dello Russo
The original street-style star. The Japanese Vogue editor-at-large's mad-but-fabulous outfits are legendary, as is Cucciolina, her pet dog and accessory of choice. Check in for her tweets from the front row, shoots with Kate Moss and photos of her own favourite street-stylistas.

Rex FeaturesSimone Rocha
Daughter of John Rocha - and London's brightest young design talent, she's already got A-listers Chloe Moretz, Lady Gaga and Alexa Chung wearing her hip creations (think neon-lace mini dresses). One to follow - obsessively.
Twitter:@simone_rocha
Rex FeaturesGiovanni Battaglia
Stylist for Dolce & Gabbana; girlfriend of Vladimir Roitfeld, Carine Roitfeld's son; sister of Sara Battaglia, handbag designer - the girl has serious fashion credentials. Tweets her fashion shoots, as well as the odd Halloween outfit (she dressed up as a skeleton).
