10 pieces ALL fashion editors own
It is a common misconception that fashion editors dress like wild peacocks. It's a miracle that we have Daphne Guinness, Anna Dello Russo and André Leon Talley to parade around in velvet capes, spiked leather and Micky Mouse ears, otherwise the fashion world would look a horribly drab bunch.
As anyone who works in fashion will attest, there is a uniform. Which is a good thing as it makes it very easy to copy (although it doesn't matter how good your Céline high street copy bag is, no fashion editor will be convinced). There are some editors who are known for their brilliantly bold style (Vogue's Lucinda Chambers for example); it's a form of self-expression. Generally though, there are 10 pieces fashion editors and writers return to time and time again - and they don't all cost the same as Celine bag. Think M&S navy cashmere, classic white T-shirts and white sneakers.
The irony is that the women who tell you to wear different clothes every couple of seasons really just wear the same thing with just a few new season nods thrown in. So, follow their lead and do the same.
