Summer style heroes: Who nailed it

Summer is drawing to a close, so we look back at this season's best dressed stars - the women whose outfits have inspired throughout the warmer months.
In no particular order, allow us to remind you of this summer's style heroes:
Getty ImagesKendall Jenner
Truthfully, with a physique like that Kendall Jenner could wear a bin liner and look cracking. What we admire about her summer style is that she doesn’t always go in for crowd-pleasing looks – she experiments with her clothes, opting for wide-leg trousers, bold prints and high-waisted jeans.
Getty ImagesOlivia Palermo
Olivia Palermo doesn’t know how to look bad. Even in the summer when the rest of us are feeling sticky, hot and uncomfortable, Palermo is pristine. Highlights have included white wide-legged jumpsuits, a clashing striped trouser suit and this gorgeous checked mini dress, teamed with demure flats.
GettySienna Miller
This summer belonged to Ms Miller. She hasn’t abandoned her boho roots, but just applied a grown-up sensibility. She was at her finest at Cannes Film Festival when we wanted every look she wore. From that incredible Ralph Lauren glittering gown to the patchwork Valentino couture dress, she killed it, looking breezy, sophisticated, yet carefree. Special mention also needs to go her Wimbledon white jumpsuit.
Rex FeaturesAmber Heard
It turns out that as well as being a successful actress and the better half of Johnny Depp, Amber Heard is also dynamite at summertime dressing. The star’s wardrobe has revolved around pretty boho dresses, floppy hats and wide leg trousers, but it was this vintage-inspired green number that truly won us over.
GettyCara Delevingne
Cara Delevingne’s androgynous look has been one that her legions of fans have long since emulated, but this summer she proved that she can channel glamour just as easily. She’s been busy promoting debut film Paper Towns, and with it showcasing a series of chic looks, our favourite being this beaded silver number.
Getty ImagesRuby Rose
Hit TV series Orange Is The New Black introduced Ruby Rose to our screens this June, in turn giving us a new style hero. Rose is all about tomboy cool – think sequinned co-ords, sporty high-tops and AllSaints tunic dresses, all accessorised by her tattoos and signature quiff.
Getty ImagesTaylor Swift
Technically, the pictured outfit was worn in April, before the summer, but we had to include it as our favourite Swifty summer look. Dishevelled and effortless are not her thing, instead she loves preppy feminine styles, consistently rocking skater skirts, cute crop tops and heels. Swift has a distinctive way of dressing and it suits her.

Amal Clooney
Oh Amal Clooney, is there nothing you can’t do? You’re a brilliant human rights lawyer, you campaign for women’s issues and you look perfect all the time. Clooney has given us a lesson this summer in how to look chic in the office – all you need is a great jumpsuit, heels and an oversized bag.
Getty ImagesGigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid’s look is bold and confident – she wears statement outfits that fuse eclecticism, sexiness and playfulness. Sartorially-speaking, there’s not much that she won’t experiment with – plunging dresses, white skinnies, bold colour or double denim.
GettyCaitlyn Jenner
Caitlyn Jenner’s style is ever evolving. Following her gender reassignment earlier this year, she built a look that was very uptown girl – conservative, feminine and elegant, with an impressive collection of wrap dresses. Since then, she’s invested in a leather jacket, which she likes to throw over a ladylike dress and heels. Caitlyn, we salute you.
Getty ImagesAlexa Chung
It comes as no surprise that Alexa Chung has made yet another best dressed list, but she never disappoints. At Glastonbury, she inspired festival-goers all summer long with her 60s mini dress and wellies combo. Obviously, she was ahead of the neckerchief trend too, wearing hers back in June way before they became a fashion blogger favourite.
Getty ImagesEmily Ratajkowski
Emily Ratajkowskicould make wearing a roll of sellotape look sexy. This summer, she alerted us to her style prowess during her promotional tour for We Are Your Friends - there have been floor length dresses with daring front slits, glittering Balmain minis, as well as this incredible co-ord.
Getty ImagesKate Bosworth
A long-term style idol of ours Kate Bosworth, has kept the bar high all summer long. It began in April with her Coachella look – a white mini dress, suede ankle boots and a banging embroidered jacket – culminating in the suede military look she wore on stage for the The Art of More in August.
GettyRihanna
Oh Rihanna let us count the ways in which we love you. We love your defiant, don’t-give-a-shit, playful approach to fashion. This summer she’s worn duvet dresses (really), Princess Jasmine inspired crop tops, pyjamas (in public), but the look we wanted more than anything was this smokin’ hot summer dress.
Getty ImagesChiara Ferragni
Italy’s leading fashion blogger knows not only what clothes to buy, but also how to wear them in order to look stylish and original, as demonstrated here.
