Candy Coloured
The Trend: Designers indulged their stylish sweet tooth with ice-cream shades of mint green, baby blues, soft yellows, lilacs and pastel pinks.
Translate It: Wear these sugary sweet shades as dresses, playsuits, cropped jackets or even (GLAMOUR.COM’s personal favourite) as skinny denim – Topshop and Uniqlo both have fab selections. Just make sure you balance the girliness with fierce accessories.

Heavy Metal
The Trend: Thought you’d seen the back of metallics on the catwalk? Think again – fashion is bringing back party season’s staples – from shimmering silver and gold to sequins and sparkling embellishments – for the summer months.
Translate It: The new twist? Don’t save these glittering pieces for after dark – modern metallics and sequins are best worked into your day wardrobe for extra glitz. Try an oversized sequin blazer á la Philip Lim, or layer Balmain-style mini dresses under knits and tailoring.

Denim Double-Take
The Trend: From dirty and distressed at D&G to pretty patchwork at Chloé, this former fashion faux pas has shed its no-go image to become one of spring’s most coveted (and easily achievable) looks.
Translate It: Take one boyfriend jean, add one denim shirt et voilá, you’re instantly on-trend. We like the acid wash and super-pale combinations best, but don’t forget to add a belt – this true blue look needs to be broken up in the middle. Go for thick vintage brown numbers or studded black leather for a rock ‘n’ roll vibe.

Sophisticated Sportswear
The Trend: Spring’s shows saw this look go one of two ways: wearable and comfortable like Marc by Marc Jacobs’ cosy jumpsuit or edgily sexy like Versace’s bodycon. Either way, the emphasis is on luxe fabrics like draped silks and carefully tailored jersey.
Translate It: The harem pant’s close cousin - the tapered jogging bottom - should become your new go-to trouser shape this season. Match your pair – or a pair of casual turn-ups – with the highest of heels, some colour-popping accessories and a luxe hooded top. We're talking Rihanna, not Runner’s World...

The Trend: Sunshine hues were nearly as popular as pastels during spring’s shows, so start falling for every shadow of yellow – from Balenciaga’s acid neon leggings to Louise Goldin’s head-to-toe lemon sorbet look.
Translate It: The danger-free way to wear this trend? Opt for a nearly-neon heel or clutch to add a pop to played-down outfits.

In Bloom
The Trend: Florals are always a spring thing, but 2010’s bouquets are even more vibrant than we’ve seen before. Erdem did it best with the most beautifully ladylike prints, but the GLAMOUR.COM girls love, love, loved Dolce & Gabbana’s vintage-style blooms, too.
Translate It: This is the foolproof option for spring – go for flower power on tea dresses, playsuits, bra tops and blazers alike.

The Trend: Hypnotic computer graphics and abstract swirls of bold colour were splattered all over the likes of Alexander McQueen, Matthew Williamson and Versace’s shows for a truly head-turning, look-at-me effect.
Translate It: Confidence is mandatory with this one, so stick to simple accessories so as not to overcomplicate your look.

Translate It: Bargain hunters rejoice – this is one trend you won’t need to break the bank for. The high street is awash with cool (and affordable) cuts, and ASOS.com has every shape and style we could think of. Get shopping!

Utility Chic
The Trend: For a tough take on femininity this spring, step in line in military-influenced shades of khaki and camo. Multiple pockets, lapels and webbed belts are all must-haves too – just don’t go over the top, because this time around utility chic is exactly that: chic, clean-cut and sophisticated.
Translate It: A pocket-packed khaki jacket is your no-nonsense route to tapping into this trend, while a luxe shirt dress (see Chloé for inspiration) means you can rock this look at work, too.

Underwear As Outerwear
The Trend: Embrace the exhibitionist on the inside with bra-tops, corsets and silky French knickers on the outside. Lingerie-style lace, silks and satin strutted down the catwalk as daywear – alongside boned bustiers and slinky slip dresses.
Translate It: It’s not an easy look to pull off head-to-toe, but give it a shot with über-cool details. Try layering lace over camisoles, matching bralets with high-waisted skirts or skin-baring corsets with grown-up tailoring.
