Stella McCartney has just launched a Disney Fantasia collection and we are *living* for the nostalgia

She may have designed Minnie Mouse's first ever trouser suit earlier this year before inviting the Disney icon to model it front row during Paris fashion Week, but Stella McCartney does not do things by halves.

Having another major Disney moment, the London designer has today launched a capsule collection dedicated to one of her favourite ever Disney films, Fantasia. 

“I  still remember to this day being so blown away the first time I ever watched it,” Stella told GLAMOUR UK. “It was like nothing I’d ever seen before! It’s is a true cultural masterpiece and the reason I was so keen to do this collection inspired by the film.” 

“In the collection I wanted to blend fashion with fantasy and really capture that explosion of innovative creativity and psychedelic energy that you see in the film. I wanted to transport my customers to the illusory, magical world that Fantasia takes you to.”

Capitalising on the film's iconic visuals, this unisex capsule consciously reflects “a desire to escape reality” and transports a new generation into this illusory world via never-seen-before prints and reimagined classics splashed across pieces made from regenerated, repurposed and recycled materials, culminating in a sort of forward-facing take on nostalgia.

“Fantasia first came to screens in 1940, so I’m really excited to be able to celebrate this now with a new generation who may or may not have seen the film yet, and if not, I hope it inspires them to watch the movie as I think it is something everyone should see at least once in their lifetime.”

Of course, while there are super cute staples spanning the world of denim to dresses and even a knitted-shorts set - all made with conscious materials including repurposed silk, recycled nylon, traceable wool and organic cotton, jersey and denim - the collection boasts a particularly strong accessories offering.
