Saint Laurent has become renowned over the past few seasons for creating looks so desirable that they spark trends that span the high street.

There was the glamrock-meets-grunge look, the androgynous Le Smokin' revival, even ripped, laddered tights, and now the brand's star embellishment have taken centre-stage. Befitting with the label's rock 'n' roll aspirations, Cara Delevingne wore a Saint Laurent star patterned mini dress last month and a star-adorned shirt a few days before and thus the trend was cemented.

Stars can look as dressy or casual as you should so desire. A shimmering mini dress covered in stars will make serious impact on a night out (Asos does a great version), while a star-covered jumper is a versatile daywear option (see Chinti and Parker or Bella Freud for ideas). Alternatively, a pair of ankle boots adorned in stars will make you feel like David Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust years, which is no bad thing.
