All five Spice Girls are reuniting for a new movie
This just in: All five members of the Spice Girls will reunite for a brand new movie. Yes! All five! Even VB is going to be involved. Mel Brown, Emma Bunton, Mel Chisholm, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham have all signed up for an animated feature with Paramount studios. It's in the very early stages of development and the girls are still reportedly in negotiation.
"They are very involved," Paramount Animation president Mireille Soria told [link url="https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/behind-screen/paramount-plans-spice-girls-movie-as-part-newly-unveiled-animation-slate-1217519" no follow="true"]The Hollywood Reporter[/link]. She says the Spice Girls "had an idea that we've been developing." The movie will feature classic Spice Girls hits as well as brand new music from the band. According to [link url="https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/jun/12/spice-girls-animated-movie" no follow="true"]The Guardian[/link], the plot involves all five girls becoming superheroes - which is truly all they deserve.
Paramount Animation has a suitably strong Girl Power vibe, too. Apparently most of their senior staff are female.
Karen McCullah and Kiwi Smith - who wrote Legally Blonde! - will write the screenplay. Spice Girls manager Simon Fuller will be producing.
We cannot wait, obviously.
It's been a whole 20 years since Spice World the movie came out - can you believe it? When it came out in 1997, it was not exactly critically acclaimed but we all know it's a cult classic for true fans of the band. With four fifths of the girls getting back together for their tour this year, we figure we are about due a Spice Girl blockbuster, if we're honest.
The Spice Girls, by the way, are the biggest selling pop group of all time, with a cool 85 million albums sold.

She’s The Man, 2006
Who: Amanda Bynes, Channing tatum - she’s the man
What: In this movie, Viola, a talented and aspiring college football player disguises herself as her twin brother to be able to participate in a tournament as her football team is dissolved. Everything that happens in between will have you dying of laughter.
The best bit: When Viola is disguised as her brother Sebastianand accidentally drops her tampons from her bag in front of the boys. She then proceeds to shove one up her nose and claim that it’s for ‘his’ nose bleeds and we cannot nottttt....
Girls Trip, 2017
Who: Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith , Tiffany Haddish
What: This African-American comedy follows four lifelong friends travels to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, where sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and the brawling begins.
The best bit: The scene where Jada’s character gets stuck in the zip line above a large crowd and can’t hold her pee any longer… two words: golden, shower!
Bring it on: All Or Nothing, 2006
Who: Hayden Panettiere, Solange Knowles
What: A film that includes cheerleaders with attitude makes one awesome chick flick. We’re talking hot guys, American high schools and rival squads in a cheerleading competition - all of our American teenager dreams come true. And if you’re up for a marathon there are five others on the movie series.
The best bit: Doing Shabooya Roll Call on top of the dining hall tables. An iconic dance and chant!
Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging, 2008
Who: Georgia Groome, Alan Davies, Karen Taylor, Aaron Johnson, Eleanor Tomlinson
What: The plot follows 14-year-old Georgia as she tries to find a boyfriend while also organising her 15th-birthday party. It’s a right of passage for all British teens and a proper throwback-feels type movie.
The best bit: When Jem remodels/decorates a room in Georgia's house and her friends and mum are all hypnotised by his looks.
John Tucker Must Die, 2006
Who: Jesse Metcalfe, Brittany Snow, Ashanti, Sophia Bush, Arielle Kebbel, Jenny McCarthy
What: When being a player goes wrong, you get John Tucker Must Die. The film is about a trio of girls who plot to break the heart of manipulative basketball star John Tucker after they learn he has been secretly dating all three and pledging to each that they’re "the one".
The best bit: When the girls trick John Tucker into doing a modelling job that turns out to make him the face of an STD’s advert.
Monster in Law, 2005
Who: Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, Michael Vartan, Wanda Sykes
What: When the man of your dreams pops the question, it’s something many women dream of. However it can turn sour real quick when you soon to be mother in law dislikes you. Charlie Cantilini is a temp/dog walker/yoga instructor and aspiring fashion designer who meets doctor Kevin Fields. Kevin pops the question after they start dating, however, things get out of hand when his mother Viola decides to ruin their relationship.
The best bit: Between the ‘hiding the nuts by shoving them in her mouth, or having a slapping fight with the bride to be or even strangling her TV guest, for dispising her idiotic personality... Viola alone has provided us with a lot to choose from!

What: Based on the Nick Hornby book, Juliet, Naked follows Annie who breaks up with long-time boyfriend Duncan, who is obsessed with former 1990s rocker Tucker Crowe. But things take an unexpected turn when Crowe reaches out to Annie.
The best bit: Ethan Hawke as Tucker Crowe, hands down.

The best bit: Guys, it's He's Just Not That Into You, the whole film is total gold.

What: An acclaimed author, Bill Borgens, is trying to come to terms with his split from his ex-wife who left him three years ago, while dealing with the complexities of raising his teenage children Samantha and Rusty.
The best bit: Call us cliche, but we love the literary quotes used throughout to illustrate love. Sobs into a copy of The Bell Jar.
This Is Where I Leave You, 2014
Who: Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Jane Fonda, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne
What: After their father passes away, four siblings return to their childhood home and live under the same roof for a week. Throw in a free-speaking mother, spouses, exes and might-have-beens, and you've got a flick full of hysterical and touching moments.
The best bit: That stellar cast list means there's too many to count.
Emma, 2020
Who: Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy
What: Ah, 1800s England. Back when it was 'courting' instead of 'chirpsing', and chivalry was still a thing. Let's face it, Jane Austen is the OG of chick-lit, and this contemporary interpretation of one of her most-loved novels is one of our favourite romantic comedies of 2020 so far. The story follows Emma Woodhouse, a mischievous matchmaker who meddles in the love lives of her family and friends.
The best bit: Just like the book, there are too many LOLs to count.
NetflixTo All The Boys I've Loved Before, 2018
Who: Lana Condor, Noah Centineo, Israel Broussard, Janel Parrish, John Corbett
What: A teenage rom-com to fall head over heels with. Shy Lara-Jean is forced to come out of her shell when private letters she writes to her crushes are posted directly to them. Needless to say, there are laughs, wholesome tears and romantic moments to follow.
The best bit: John Corbett's amazing open relationship with his children and their loving sisterly bond that outweighs everything.
The Hustle, 2019
Who: Anne Hathaway, Rebel Wilson
What: Two women team up to defraud a young and naive billionaire out of his money.
The best bit: Rebel Wilson, obv.
A Simple Favour, 2018
Who: Blake Lively, Anna Kendrick
What: New to Netflix, A Simple Favour follows an unlikely friendship between a mother who runs a parenting vlog and a fiesty upper-class woman who suddenly goes missing...
The best bit: Stephanie's fantastic one-liners - we can't get enough of them.
SONY ENTERTAINMENTSomeone Great 2019
Who: Gina Rodriguez, Brittany Snow, DeWanda Wise
What: After a tough breakup from her long-term boyfriend, a music journalist recruits her two best friends for one last outrageous adventure before she moves away. Funny and relatable, this is the perfect movie for a girls night-in.
The best bit: Too many to count but drinking bourbon from a pretzel straw was definitely a highlight.
Booksmart, 2019
Who: Kaitlyn Dever, Beanie Feldstein, Jessica Williams
What: Two know-it-all, studious teens have a wild night out on the eve of their graduation.
The best bit: Not only is the dialogue hilarious but it’s unapolegetically feminist. We’re sold.

What: The ultimate girl-gang unite for a weekend in Napa Valley.
The best bit: The vineyard scenes are priceless

What: The Bellas head to Europe in this epic third-instalment of Pitch Perfect

What: Five years after the original film came out, Mamma Mia is back with another extravaganza of Abba-fuelled, feel-good fun as Sophie prepares to open Hotel Bella Donna. True to its name, we’ll be watching it again and again and again.

Confessions of a Shopaholic, 2009
Who: Isla Fisher, Hugh Dancy, Krysten Ritter
What: A college graduate lands a job as a financial journalist to support her shopping addiction.
The best bit: As expected, the clothes are pretty epic.
Wild Child, 2008

What: A spoilt American teen is sent to an English boarding school by her father.
The best bit: When Poppy and her gal pals debut their new makeovers at the school social.
Coyote Ugly, 2000
Who: Piper Perabo, Trya Banks and LeAnn Rimes
What: No doubt one of the coolest bars we’ve ever seen. Full of singing, dancing and just a right ol’ good time. Plus all the girls are kick-ass. And did we mention the soundtrack? Guaranteed to have you singing arm in arm with your girlfriends all the way to the bar.
The best bit: Every.Single.Dancing.Scene.

What: Another unforgettable makeover from geek to chic with Anne Hathaway. This is the movie that sky-rocketed Emily Blunt's career, playing a posh assistant ready to step on anyone’s Louboutin-clad toes to get where she wants to be - a skill rapidly learned by our protagonist.
The best bit: We’re torn between “How do you spell Gabbana?”, “Are those the Chanel boots?”, and Miranda’s epic monologue on cerulean blue after Andy laughs about the editor’s decision between two blue belts. We’ll go with the monologue.

The best bit: Elle’s epic answer: “You got into Harvard Law? What? Like, it’s hard?”. Her win in court over the first cardinal rule of perm maintenance. Her graduation speech: “It is with passion, courage of conviction, and strong sense of self that we take our next steps into the world, remembering that first impressions are not always correct. You must always have faith in people. And most importantly, you must always have faith in yourself. Congratulations class of 2004 .We did it!”. And of course the Bend and Snap.

The best bit: Come on… he chases her down on her way to the airport, he stops the taxi with his motorcycle, then they kiss in the middle of the Manhattan bridge.

The best bit: Cher’s driving down the motorway and the shrieking that ensues.
