Mango just re-released its sell-out dress that stole the show at this year's Met Gala
The Met Gala is the undisputed red carpet of the year for fashion fans, with everyone from Lady Gaga to Anna Wintour and Naomi Campbell teaming up with some of the world's most creative and well-known designers to raise even their own highest standards.
So when Sofia Sanchez Barrenechea arrived in a striking ombre, tiered gown that wasn't instantly recognisable from a recent runway, it took even the most well-connected fashion journalists a quick minute to discover which label was behind the piece.
Ironically, there could well have been an actual label sticking out the back of it to answer all of our questions, as - unlike fellow attendees - Sofia was wearing high street. The dress, which was one of the most stunning of the night, was by Mango.
Speaking of the gown's interesting colourway, Ainhoa San Martin, Mango's PR director, told GLAMOUR of the 'ironic' play on the brand's name.

"We're exaggerating the qualities of the mango, with the dégradé of the colours and the trapeze shape with different layers."
"The handbag that she's wearing is in the shape of a mango. She has really big earrings in the shape of fruit. Everything together ties back to the 'camp' concept."

The high street stalwart's Met Gala debut was, admittedly, a made-to-order gown - with two-months of meetings and fittings at the Mango headquarters in Barcelona squeezed in ahead of the big reveal - but that didn't stop the brand ensuring that its customer could experience the aesthetic for themselves.
"It's super important that our clients are able to relate to what we do," said San Martin.
Releasing an entire 'Gala Collection' with pieces inspired by - as well as entirely identical to - Sofia's look, it was a more low-key, summer-holiday-worthy version that proved immensely popular, selling out in just two days.
Reacting to this demand, Mango have today re-released the fuss-free midi slip with the same ombre gradient.
But you'll have to act fast, as the appetite for this mango-inspired piece doesn't seem to have settled with sizes selling out already.
