The most unexpected jewellery trend that the fashion world can't get enough of
While mixed prints, belted swimwear and dad sandals are undoubtedly some of this season's biggest trends, the jewellery world has been igniting (or, rather, reigniting) cult styles of its own.
Asymmetrical pearl earrings and diamanté hair slides may be a recurring theme, but it's shell-embellished pieces that continue to dominate the accessories landscape this season.

Shell bracelets, shell necklaces, shell earrings, shell anklets, shell-embellished sandals... heck we'd wear jumpers adorned with the chic little crustaceans if only someone would make one for us. We only draw the line at lingerie (but perhaps a bikini would be cute?).
Shell-mania hit fever pitch last summer having first been seen on the runway at Prada for autumn/winter '18.
Reminiscent of the beach-y bits you used to pick up on a holiday in the Canary Islands and model in the school common room for as long as poss before your tutor picked up on the contraband item, the resurgence is - thankfully - infinitely more grown-up.

As is the case with most nostalgic trends, Instagram has been awash with the pieces decorating the necks/arms/wrists of some of the world's chicest influencers.

The trick to pulling off the trend right now - as opposed to the mid-nineties - is to avoid all things too plastic-y. Instead, channel the look via chic gold-toned pieces with cream or silver accents in delicate designs.
Brands particularly excelling in the shell-accessory arena include the likes of Isabel Marant, Tohum, Ellery and Aurelie Bidermann.
