How to make sequins work for daytime
A steady stream of sequins appeared on the catwalks for autumn winter 2017, with many of the big hitters going for a head-to-toe look; see Saint Laurent, Emilia Wickstead and Erdem for some killer sparkles. While sequins are often pigeonholed as an evening only event, they can be the perfect companion to a casual day look.
To tone sequins down for day opt for a single item in a more casual shape. A classic t-shirt silhouette is perfect for daytime and will always suit a sequin, or you recreate Zimmerman and go for a slouchy fit sweatshirt or trouser.
Layering is key in making this trend work for day - a nice sweater under a sequin top or dress will tone down the glitz. A single colour all over will give you a chic look, or keep it playful with bright colours and stripes à la Ashish.
Now is as good a time as any to invest in some sequins as they’ll carry you right through the winter months when you need that extra bit of glitz.
