8 times Romeo & Juliet inspired our style
Baz Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet holds a place in most people's hearts. Who didn't want to be Claire Danes as a young Leo DiCaprio climbed up to her balcony to proclaim his instant love for her? Or to be the one peering coyly through a fish tank at a stranger they fancied madly?
The story of Romeo and Juliet - young love in the middle of adult conflict - never grows old, which is why Lily James and Richard Madden are reprising the lead roles this month, this time on London's West End stage.
On top of that, Luhrmann's engrossing film version is 20 years old this year, giving us an excuse to look back at its unforgettable costumes - which still have enough 90s appeal to keep us interested.
