New York City: Hotels

Whatever your budget or taste, there's a Big Apple hotel to suit you. We pick our new favourite three.

Pod 39
Pod 39, situated in the Murray Hill area of the city, is the perfect pitstop for those travelling in groups (they have great bunk rooms) or for those who would rather spend their pennies at the plentiful boutiques the city has to offer than on super expensive hotel accommodation.

Pod 39
But don't for a second think that Pod 39 doesn't have all the amazing amenities offered by its more expensive counterparts.
The lobby and all of the public spaces are super impressive.
Pod 39
Fancy a drink and dinner post-shop? Pod 39 caters to your every need thanks to its cool playroom and bar and its delicious restaurant, Salvation Taco (seriously, not to be missed).
After dinner, why not head up to the rooftop bar for a nightcap? It would be rude not to.
Pod 39
As for the rooms, aside from the bunks, the double rooms are spacious enough for two and provide more than enough space to store your suitcases and shopping bargains - and did we mention the views?!

The Maritime Hotel
For those who love old school charm with more than a flourish of creative interior design, The Maritime Hotel is the place for you. Based on a ship theme, all rooms have a porthole window out of which you get some incredible views of the city. And how impressive is the exterior?

The Maritime Hotel
Each room is tastefully decorated with a mix of neutral colours and splashes of bright fabric and furniture. The rooms are some of the biggest we've ever had in New York and feel really relaxing, perfect for escaping the busy streets of Manhattan.
With a fantastically stocked mini bar and great bathroom products (courtesy of C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries), we really didn't want to leave.
The Maritime Hotel
When the weather turns warm and balmy, the best place to be is the La Bottega, the hotel's beautiful restaurant and terrace. Serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks, you can always find an excuse to spend some time here under the umbrellas. But when you do venture out, Chelsea Market, brimming with foodie treats, is right on your doorstep, as is the wonderful Highline park.

The Marlton
If luxury with a cool downtown edge is your thing, The Marlton Hotel will easily cater to your ever whim.
A room for two, please.

The Marlton
Upon entering the lobby, you're transported into a haven of good taste, and surrounded by cool creative types tapping away on laptops, having meetings and sipping on coffee from the hotel's very own coffee bar.
It feels like a home from home.
The Marlton
The rooms at The Marlton are a minimalist lover's dream and the result is a tranquil hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the hotel's public spaces and, of course, the busy streets below.

The Marlton
Why go out when you have an amazing cocktail bar and restaurant (Margaux) right in the building?
We sipped on bespoke cocktails before feasting on burgers and fries, grilled chicken and a platter of cheese.
If slick but friendly, knowledgeable service is your thing, you'll be impressed with the waiting staff.
