All the new movies you will have to wait even longer for due to Coronavirus
2020 was shaping up to be a an epic year for movies, after the release of blockbuster hits such as the high-kicking Birds of Prey, the Neflix favourite, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before: P.S I Still Love You and the Me-too drama, Bombshell starring Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie.
The best was yet to come with James Bond's No Time To Die, Disney's Mulan, the Emily Blunt-starring The Quiet Place II and the epic war film Greyhound with Tom Hanks, amongst the blockbuster movies we were eagerly waiting for.
However, after No Time To Die was postponed to November because of the global Corona outbreak, things did not look promising for other major film releases. Especially now that we know it won't be out until 2 April 2021.
Then the live-action remake of Disney's Mulan was postponed after the LA premiere took place and the London premiere of the much-loved film was scaled back. Mulan's director Niki Caro said: "We are so excited to share this film with the world, but given the current ever-shifting circumstances we are all experiencing, unfortunately, we have to postpone the worldwide release of Mulan for now."
The much-anticipated release of The Quiet Place II was also delayed just days before release. Speaking about the delay director, John Krasinski, who announced the news on Thursday via Instagram, said it would move to an unspecified date.
John, who directs his wife, Emily Blunt, in the movie said: “One of the things I’m most proud of is that people have said our movie is one you have to see all together. Well due to the ever-changing circumstances of what’s going on in the world around us, now is clearly not the right time to do that. As insanely excited as we are for you all to see this movie … I’m gonna wait to release the film until we CAN see it together! So here’s to our group movie date! See you soon!”
Most recently, films including The Batman and Avatar 2 have been pushed back to 2022 (!!) - that's a whole year more to wait for cinema releases that were sure to be major blockbusters.
It is estimated that the Coronavirus will cost the global cinema box office an eye-watering $5 billion. As the movie industry scrambles to change its release dates, here is the list of must-see new movies this year and when you will be able to see them...
The Batman
Release Date: 4 March 2022
What: Coronavirus and cities in lockdown have all contributed to Robert Pattinson's debut as The Batman being pushed back until 2022. It was originally slated for June 2021 after filming began in January 2020 but unfortunately there have been plenty of setbacks.
Who: Robert Pattinson, Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell.
Dune
Release Date: 1 October 2021
What: Adapted from the book series by Frank Herbert, the 2021 adaptation of the 1984 film boasts a stellar cast that we're bursting to see come together on screen.
Who: Timothée Chalamet, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin and Jason Momoa.
Coming 2 America
Release Date: 5 March 2021
What: The keenly anticipated sequel to Coming to America (which grossed more than $288 million (£216million) worldwide back in 1988) won't be Coming 2 Amazon before the year is up... In the follow-up, Crown Prince Akeem travels from Zamunda to Queens, New York for a very different type of adventure.

What: Even though we were looking ahead to December 2021 for the release of the second Avatar film (that's 12 years after the first, FYI), it now looks to have been set back by another year.

No Time To Die
