11 hotly-anticipated movies coming to Netflix this summer
Netflix UK will be the place to head to when you find yourself without any plans this summer. Or even if you have a jam-packed schedule in the upcoming months, sometimes all you need is a break from all that scorching hot fun in the sun, so trust us when we say the streaming service has most certainly got your back.
Home to some epic movie releases this year already, Netflix shows no signs of stopping, with its summer line-up of films being some of the best we've seen. I mean, you cannot go wrong with a perfect rom-com, and we have the likes of Gabrielle Union heading up The Perfect Find and Ellie Kemper in Happiness for Beginners. Cannot wait! Meanwhile, action movies also kick butt, and the powerful Gal Gadot once again takes over the genre with Heart of Stone.

If you're looking for something different, there's a new interactive rom-com hitting Netflix in August called Choose Love, in which we, the viewers, have a say in what life choices the heroines makes. Netflix also has us covered when it comes to all things real-life, as a series of upcoming documentaries are set to leave us on the edge of our seats, such as the devastating healthcare doc Take Care of Maya and a freediver breaking world records in The Deepest Breath.

Take Care of Maya
The documentary Take Care Of Maya is guaranteed to make you stop and re-think everything you know about children's healthcare. Based on the story of Maya Kowalski, who was nine years old when she was admitted to Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital in 2016 due to her being constantly in excruciating pain. However, as the medical team attempted to understand her rare illness, they began to question the family dynamics and wondered whether the youngster was actually suffering from Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which is when a parent makes a child sick for the sole sake of attention. Devastating consequences ensued as state authorities took Maya away, and their parents desperately attempted to bring her back.

Rom-com lovers, rejoice! Gabrielle Union and Keith Powers join forces for this hilarious Numa Perrier-directed movie. The movie centred on Jenna, whose fashion career comeback following a high-profile firing hits a brick wall when she falls for her charming and much young co-worker, who also happens to be her boss' son. Eeek! She has already been fired once; will she risk it again for the secret new romance?

An intimate look into the hectic, fast-paced and ultra-glamorous lives of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley as they went from high school buddies to conquering stadiums worldwide from 1982 to 1986 as part of the hugely popular pop duo act, Wham! The feature-length documentary will also examine the impact their songs, such as Club Tropicana, Wake Me Up Before You Go Go, and Freedom, had on their fans across the globe.

Action comedies have been seeing a resurgence lately, and The Out-Laws, starring Adam Devine and Nina Dobrev, is set to add to the genre. In the movie, Owen Browning, a straitlaced bank manager, is about to marry the love of his life, Parker. However, when the infamous Ghost Bandits hold up the bank he works at during the week of his wedding, he's adamant that his future in-laws (Pierce Brosnan and Ellen Barkin), who just arrived in town, are behind it as the infamous Out-Laws.

Bird Box Barcelona
2018's Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock, was a smash hit for the streaming service, so it makes sense for the tried and tested formula to come to screens again in Bird Box Barcelona. If you haven't watched the original (where have you been?!), the premise is the same. After a mysterious force decimates the world's population, Sebastian must navigate his own survival journey through the desolate streets of Barcelona while forming tense and uneasy alliances with other survivors, who are also desperate to escape the city. However, little do they know that an unexpected and even more sinister threat grows.

The Deepest Breath
This will seriously leave you breathless! The Deepest Breath is an inspiring documentary film directed and written by Laura McGann that follows Italian freediver Alessia Zecchini on her seemingly impossible quest to break a world record within the thrilling world of freediving with the help of safety diver Stephan Keenan, with whom she develops a deep emotional bond with.

Ellie Kemper fans will be thrilled that she's heading up a new rom-com! In Happiness for Beginners, the actress takes on the role of Helen, who has always played it safe in life. Now newly divorced, she joins a quirky group of strangers on a survival course billed as an “adventure of a lifetime”, which she hopes will help teach her how to live and love again.

However, their plans go comically wrong when middle school drama begins affecting ther rite of passage. As well as Idina Menzel, the story sees Hollywood star Adam Sandler joined by his daughters Sadie and Sunny Sandler on-screen!

Choose Love
Laura Marano, Avan Jogia, Jordi Webber and Scott Michael Foster star in the interactive rom-com Choose Love, which follows the life of 'IT' girl Cami Conway, who has the career she wants, as well as impending engagement, marriage and kids with her boyfriend, Paul. Despite all of that, she can't help but feel that something is missing and faces a series of tempting but tough decisions such as ethical dilemmas to the frivolous Truth or Dares. But what she chooses depends on you!
