Model watch: the top 10 Spring Summer 2017 models
The month-long show season ended this week in Paris and kickstarted the new Spring Summer 17 season. It wouldn't be show season without the rise of breakout beauties making their debut on the fashion capital's runways and into our magazines.
The element of diversity in casting has been a hugely discussed topic for many years but the past few seasons have set new standards for major brands. The spring summer 2017 season embraced that vision sending multi-generational groups of models down the catwalks and providing a platform for model rookies to emerge and step into the spotlight.
The house of Balenciaga took it further and mixed muses, artists and musicians with established models and new faces. One of them was Radhika Nair, who made her international debut in Paris and is the first Indian model to ever walk for Balenciaga.
Despite what some think, the best casting doesn't mean a line up of the most popular models, instead, the casting should reflect the brand's identity and should resonate with women who are buying into it. Prada's runways are the best example of this. Why? Because they use casting to create a statement for the brand and give thought to diversity. Like no other show, every season Prada produces an array of hot newcomers who make their first appearance on their catwalk and, nine times out of ten, go on to have hugely successful modelling careers in the industry, historically landing editorial, covers and campaigns.
Below, we've rounded up the 10 models who have taken this season by storm:
