All the dresses you need to see from 2022's MAJOR Met Gala red carpet
The 2022 Met Gala *finally* arrived, and we hope you fashion devotees are ready because there's no way you'll be getting anything else done before you've seen every single look from this year's red carpet.
While those of us in the UK spent much of yesterday lamenting the lack of Bank Holiday sunshine, across the pond there was an entirely different agenda for the first Monday in May.
Forever the biggest red carpet on the fashion calendar, it may annually fall hot on the heels of awards season – which sees stars pulling out all the sartorial stops for the likes of the Oscars, the Grammys and the BAFTAs – but nothing comes close to the fashion moments that models, actresses, musicians and personalities prepare to unveil at the Met Gala.

While attendees are encouraged to go big, they're also steered in a certain direction via the event's annual theme.
This year, the theme of the Met Gala was In America: An Anthology of Fashion, which was set to explore the history of American fashion and will – according to Vogue – see guests embody “the grandeur - and perhaps the dichotomy - of Gilded Age New York”.
In short, we were expecting to see lots of luxurious textures (we're talking silks, velvets, lace) and dramatic detailing in the form of excess ruffles and over-the-top fringing, all splashed across a colour palette of rich jewel tones.
And being one of the first to arrive, Blake Lively – whose transformative Versace gown truly left us with our jaws on the floor – certainly raised the bar.
It's back on the springtime calendar, and we can't wait.

Blake and her husband Ryan Reynolds (aka everyone's ultimate #couplegoals) were co-chairing the event this year alongside Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda and Regina King, while Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, designer Tom Ford and head of Instagram Adam Mosseri were honorary co-chairs.
