GLAMOUR Tries: We put Kryolan's Fixing Spray to the test to see if it really does keep makeup in place all day
There's no better pastime than testing out the coolest new skincare/makeup/hair trends and snazzy innovations in beauty tech from the comfort of your own home. That said, there's nothing more frustrating than spending upwards of £100 on a new at-home facial system or snazzy pair of hair straighteners, only to find out they don't *actually* work.
Enter GLAMOUR Tries: the weekly Instagram series which sees GLAMOUR editors do all of the time-consuming (and expensive) work for you.

Yep, we've been busy trying out all of the wacky and wonderful beauty crazes to take the internet (read: TikTok) by storm - from Dyson's Supersonic Flyaway Attachment (the smoothing hair tool of dreams) to Dr. Harris' Anti-Wrinkle Sleep Mask and Dr. Jart+'s Cryo Rubber So Cool Duo face masks. These are the products every influencer/gen-Z beauty slueth/beauty editor is talking about on the internet - but that you want to be sure about before parting with your money.
Thanks to GLAMOUR Tries, you won't need to waste your hard-earned pennies on testing these innovations yourself. We're getting in their first, giving you the lowdown and making sure you invest in products that genuinely work. Like what you see? On GLAMOUR Tries this week, Commerce Writer Sophie Cockett put Kryolan's Fixing Spray to the test to see if it really does prolong the life of makeup throughout the day. According to the brand, Fixing Spray is particularly effective when used with wet makeup and claims to be totally smudge and rub-proof, and able to withstand even excessively harsh exposure and perspiration.

“People have been raving about this stuff. I'm seeing people on TikTok applying it before a wedding and staying out in the boiling heat for 12 hours and their makeup looks the same, they're even swatching eyeshadow and smudging it and it stays in place so I'm excited.” Sophie says.
For the first test, Sophie swatches three eyeshadows and a lipstick on the back of her hand before spraying Kryolan's Fixing Spray on top. The label says to apply the formula from a distance of approximately 30cm, thinly and evenly, before allowing it to dry.
Sophie runs her finger down the swatches of makeup she's made to see if the spray keeps everything in place. “So the eyeshadows have fully stayed in place, like they are not budging at all. The lipstick has kind of moved a little bit but I think it'd survive under a mask.”
“For test number two I'm going to spritz it over my face, it's quite early in the morning and it's raining outside so I think I'll go to the office and maybe even do a workout - TBC - and we'll see how my makeup fares later on.” She sprays it from a distance atop her makeup and gives her first impressions: “Not going to lie, it kind of feels like I have hairspray all over my face. It smells a bit chemically but if it works that doesn't really bother me, and it doesn't feel sticky so - so far so good.”
Sophie reports back at the end of the day to give her final verdict. “I've been to work, been to lunch, done a workout, taken the bins out - I've done it all. My makeup is so intact. There's a few creases in my eyeshadow but, honestly incredible.”
