The highly-anticipated Kenzo x H&M collection is just around the corner and we're already planning which pieces we'll be spending our pay packet on.

H&M's designer collaboration with Kenzo is certainly not for the subtle: The jungle-inspired line features a mix of animal prints bomber jackets and skirts, graphic dresses and jumpers and boots all in bold, neon colours.

For Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, teaming up with H&M was a no-brainer. They've been H&M groupies since the high-street store's first designer collaboration, with Karl Lagerfeld back in 2004.

"We queued up for it," Lim tells us. "I remember it so well, like it was yesterday; it was outside the H&M store in SoHo in New York. It was so much fun, and so crazy. We want people today to be as excited about Kenzo x H&M as we were back then."

And no doubt they will be. Since joining Kenzo back in 2011, the designer duo and best friends have not only preserved the label, but added a youthful, irreverent appeal. It's a magnet for cool kids across the globe - from Rihanna to Alexa Chung - and its tiger motif sweaters are nothing short of ubiquitous. While they've commandeered the It girl market, what Lim and Leon want to do with H&M is make Kenzo cross-generational.

The collection is a celebration of individuality and diversity, as its statement-making campaign proves. It stars supermodel and philanthropist Iman, Chance The Rapper, Chloë Sevigny and influential Japanese composer and musician Ryuichi Sakamoto.

"Diversity is something that is natural to us," says Leon. "It's part of everything we've ever done, from the imagery for Opening Ceremony [the brand the pair founded in 2002] to the casting of our Kenzo shows. We were so excited to bring together the ambassadors for the Kenzo x H&M campaign, and think about not just ethnicity but also age, and what these amazing people have achieved with their lives."
