Kate Moss vs Keith Richards: Who wore it best
As the Rolling Stones prepare to open their first international exhibition in London in April, we've been thinking about their legacy to fashion as well as to music.
So obviously Mick Jagger's the glittering frontman, with a wardrobe full of glitzy costumes, but after much consideration we have decided that Keith Richards has made a far greater style impact.
Just ask Kate Moss, who has celebrated his rock 'n' roll pirate aesthetic for decades. Skinny scarves? Check. Billowing boho shirts? Check. A love of leopard print coats? They both love them. Waistcoats worn over linen tees? Yep. Dirty suede ankle boots? Keith did it, then Kate followed. That's not to mention their respective appreciation of shaggy jackets, fedoras and leather trousers. The pair are firm friends (she is thanked in Richards' memoir, Life, and he also kindly donated his shepherd's pie recipe to her as a wedding present), so it's not unimaginable that she might borrow from his wardrobe.
And frankly, there is no better endorsement that you're a fashion maverick than if the world's most stylish supermodel frequently pays homage to your look. Nice one Keith.
