Looking stunning on the red carpet at the LA Total Recall premiere, Kate opts for a loose wavy up-do. Clear, glowing skin is Kate's beauty trademark.

By now we're used to seeing Kate Beckinsale rock super-sleek hair so the backcombed, high-rise ponytail at the MTV Movie Awards is definitely unexpected – and subsequently totally rocked our world. Again.

At the Golden Globes in 2011, Kate stuns with another faultless red carpet style. Going for a voluminous up-do complete with rock ‘n’ roll quiff, the metallic smoky eyes are perfectly offset by that glowing skin and pouty, glossy lips. Mwah.

Trying something a little different at an event in LA, Kate’s pulled back hair is a masterclass in occasion styling, whilst we love the smoky feline flicks too – which are a fresh and funky alternative to heavy panda eyes.

Just a month later though and Kate’s hair has undergone another transformation. Lighter and longer, her side-swept tresses couldn’t but help wow the crowds at the Cannes Film Festival that year.

Front-row at the Calvin Klein show in New York the following year and, while Kate is still rocking super-length hair, she’s also cut in a brow-skimming fringe to devastating effect. With signature make-up, there’s something of a modern-day Bardot about the whole thing.

But by 2008, the lengthy mane is back in stylish form. Rocking a much darker colour, we love Kate’s long and lovely curls, whilst the dark smoky eyes teamed with blush pink cheeks is one of her sexier looks to date.

After years of rocking long and lustrous locks, Kate goes for a change in 2006 by opting for a Lob (long bob) and we are big, big fans.
PA Photos2006
Hitting a hair and beauty homerun at the Golden Globes that year, Kate looks a million dollars with slightly smoky eyes, peachy lips and an up-do to die for. Note to self: Do hair like this at own wedding.

Back to her polished Hollywood style a year later, Kate’s hair and beauty look is reminiscent of Old Hollywood with a super-high quiff pulled into a sleek wavy ponytail. Top marks.

Undoubtedly our favourite Kate Beckinsale look ever has to be this. Pictured at the Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire world premiere in London, there must have been something about her return to home soil that inspired her to go back to the pale English Rose beauty and minimal make-up - whilst we’re totally digging those perfectly bedhead, dip-dyed locks – perfection.

After marrying Wiseman in California the previous month, the glowing newly-wed Beckinsale takes to the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards in LA. With dark smoky eyes – which were soon to become her trademark – and full fat, side-sweeping honey-hued curls, Kate looks every-inch the Hollywood star.

After splitting with longtime partner Michael Sheen, Kate reveals that she is dating Underworld director Len Wiseman, and around the same time also debuts a bold new ‘do at a Style Gala in honour of Tom Ford in LA. The big, bodacious curly hairstyle is certainly a statement, but, alas, not one that Kate has since repeated.

With the Cali-transformation complete, Kate’s English Rose credentials quickly fly out of the window at the Underworld premiere in LA. With that head of glossy highlighted hair, bronzed skin and dark smoky eye make-up… This lady certainly is a vamp!
PA Photos2003
Channeling her inner-vamp, while promoting her action/vampire flick Underworld at Comic-Con, Kate goes back to her roots with the deep and dark chestnut hue; while the make-up is bit more rock ‘n’ roll with darker brows, and kohl-lined eyes.

Pictured at the Vanity Fair Oscars party in early 2002, this is hands-down one of our favourite-ever Kate Beckinsale looks. With delicately bronzed cheeks and lightly lined eyes, Kate doesn’t look a day over 21, while the ornate up-do complete with simple Alice band accessory is Oscar-worthy in itself. Love!

But by the end of year, Miss Beckinsale is back on hair and beauty form. Still doing that whole sunkissed skin thing, Kate’s natural waves and minimal make-up make her a force to be reckoned with.
Rex Features2001
Promoting her second flick of the year, rom-com Serendipity, Kate returns to a longer style. While the stripy highlights are questionable, we’re big fans of the Cali tan and deep berry pout.
Rex Features2001
Just weeks later at a photo call for Pearl Harbor Kate updates her look again, opting for a choppier, shoulder-length style and flawless English Rose blushed cheeks.
PA Photos2001
At the London premiere of Kate’s first big-budget wartime epic Pearl Harbor, the English Rose once again lets her natural beauty do the talking with lightly sunkissed skin, sugary pink lips and strong thick lashes – while her signature mane of hair is swept back into a chignon.
PA Photos2000
After giving birth to her daughter Lily Mo the previous year, Kate returns to the red carpet in 2000 to promote her first post-baby flick The Golden Bowl. With a shaggy chestnut bob and some face-framing highlights at the front, Kate once again sticks to minimal make-up, only plumping for icy-toned eyeshadow, glossy lips and just a hint of mascara.

A now-pregnant Kate Beckinsale looks fresh-faced and utterly fabulous with barely a speck of make-up at a launch for TV channel FilmFour in London. With slimmer brows, Kate – who is growing out her highlights – keeps the look chic and simple with a swept back ponytail and cutesy clip. We can so remember working this look ourselves, back then.

That 90s penchant for paler-than-pale foundation continues into the next year too when Beckinsale attends the premiere of Shooting Fish in London. Having grown out her severe crop into a distinctly Monica-from-Friends-circa-series-4 bob, a 24-year-old Beckinsale looks as cute as a button with strawberry lips and that ol’ classic, blue eyeshadow.
Rex Features1996
At the premiere of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Emma – a role which Kate had taken in a TV movie a few months before to considerable critical acclaim – Beckinsale showcases an even shorter, sharper ‘do ahead of filming Brit comedy Shooting Fish. With a chalky and pale complexion, complete with glossy red lips and kohl-lined eyes – it isn’t our favourite KB look, but her natural beauty still shines through.
Rex Features1996
After meeting Martin Sheen in a production of The Seagull the previous year, the now-boyfriend and girlfriend team up once again for Sweetheart at the Royal Court Theatre. Pictured at a press conference for the play, Beckinsale once again opts for a shorter ‘do, highlighting her naturally chestnut locks with copper and caramel tones – while the rosy lips and kohl-lined eyes are quintessential mid-90s.
Rex Features1995
Securing another major film role as 1930s socialite Flora Poste in Cold Comfort Farm, Beckinsale managed the retro look with aplomb, growing her newly-cut hair out into a side-parted bob teamed with full red lips and doe-eyed lashes.

After notching up no less than three substantial film credits the previous year and after having completed a year abroad studying in Paris, the pressures of doing a degree and holding down a film career become too much, with Kate having to drop out of Oxford. However, to mark the new chapter in her life, Beckinsale chops off her enviably long locks, opting for a chic swept-back pixie crop.
Rex Features1994
Quickly becoming the One To Watch, a 21-year-old Kate Beckinsale continues to keep her make-up simple and flawless with just a hint of berry gloss on the lips, strong brows and a gloriously 90s mussed-up take on the ballet bun.
Rex Features1993
Working pre-Raphaelite curls to perfection and keeping her dark eyebrows face-framingly strong for an official photo for Much Ado About Nothing, a 20-year-old Kate looks every-inch the Shakespearean actor.
Terry O'Neill/Getty Images1993
At just 20, on a summer holiday from studying French and Russian literature at Oxford University, Kate Beckinsale films her break-out role in the Kenneth Brannagh-directed adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic Much Ado About Nothing. With her perfect English rose complexion and glossy, thick bob, the critics are just as taken with her as we are!
Rex Features1992
As a fresh-faced 19-year-old Kate Beckinsale - the daughter of British actors Judy Loe and Richard Beckinsale – typifies the early 90s grunge aesthetic with her mane of trademark brown hair, whipped up into a pseudo-Edwardian up-do and barely a slick of make-up.
