One wrote, "It is a real issue, because several black children are getting kicked out of school because of his hairstyle. Yet here it is being praised on a non-black person."

While another said, "I don’t want to argue with anyone, but that hairstyle is point blank cultural appropriation to the black culture"

Others chimed in, "its (sic) cultural appropriation, people have every right to get offended."

"It's CA because black women have to fight for acceptance with the same styles a young white woman can be admired for. It sends a message that their natural beauty isn’t beautiful at all and that their features are only appealing when they’re adopted by white women."

Some, however, attempted to defend Jesy, claiming that a hairstyle doesn't 'belong' to anyone.

"You're obviously allowed to get offended over anything u (sic) want, but she's just wearing a hairstyle and I, personally, don't see how that's being disrespectful to black culture..."

"STOP TRYING TO CENSOR A HAIRSTYLE- they do not ‘belong’ exclusively to one culture"

“Cultural appropriation is when the dominant group take a “cultural” element from a minority culture and use it in the wrong way, portray it in the wrong way, or even disrespect it... tbh it’s just a female celeb wearing dreads as a look as many people do, that doesn’t mean she’s disrespecting the original culture or displaying it wrongly... so .. why you bitter for? I think some people just like to be angry for the sake of their bitter hearts.”
